soft sided cooler recs

I frequently use a soft-sided cooler to transport groceries, etc for a few hours in my car. I refuse to pay $250 for a Yeti bag with a narrow, obnoxious to use zippered opening. I'm seeking recs on a quality (ie, keeps stuff cold for hours) soft sided cooler that's $100 or less. My current cheapo Coleman from WalMart is no match for our present weather. Thanks, y'all.

Thx for the recs....I looked at the RTICs. Nice, seems well constructed, but the shape (narrow and tall) does not lend itself to grocery hauling. I'm liking the Polar Bear 48 a bit more, as it is wider/longer rather than taller.

I don't think I'd ever test my polar bear beyond it's capabilities, but if I wanted to move up slightly I'd probably go for the RTIC.

I have both a polar bear 24 and the Ozark Trail Jumbo Soft Cooler (RTIC clone for $60). They both work great but for groceries I would use the OT since it is more structured.
The OT isn't available online, but I would just check your local walmart. The one by my house in OKC has 7 or 8 of them.

I have a polar bear and like it, but it has a zipper like the YETI, so you might find it "obnoxious to use".

Nah, I think the Polar Bear's zipper opening is much wider than the Yeti...so no knuckle-busting. Zipper extends beyond the width of the bag; extended ends cinch down on the sides.
I found a 20% off code for the Polar Bear & ordered the 48 solar. Gonna see how I like it once I get my hands on it. Thanks for the input!

They do cinch down, but it's still an envelope style cooler. You have to run your hand down between the zipper. Like I said, I like mine, but don't be surprised if you get bummed out by that.

Guess I'll find out. I won't use it for picnics/boating/beach, so I'll generally be loading then unloading about once every couple weeks.
I definitely prefer a hard box for frequent open/close use. But the softsiders take up less space when not in use, so I can leave it in my hatchback all the time. (You never know when someone will offer you shrimp/fish/deer sausage, or when you'll encounter something tasty & delicious.)

I keep some of the soft sided insulated freezer bags in the back of my car all the time for "just in case" times and for hauling groceries back and forth in the heat. Gives me time to unload without worrying about melted ice cream etc... I usually travel with the blue ice bags in them all the time, as well, and I throw a few in a bag before I head for the grocery. They were fine. I have several sizes and one the size of those soft sided coolers. It's an LSU insulated cooler and it works fine with the blue ice. I have a section of one of my freezers devoted to the blue ice and the soft frozen things in it, so I can use them when I need them without planning.
