$10.00 cover to pay for the privilege of paying for shitty food? Wow.

Got there about 10 and it was packed. Friends got there about 9:30 and had a table in the bar area. happys was slammed right after the game but the crowd had thinned out by 5ish.

I don't know if it's been said but I paid the ten dollars which they than took off my bill. I went for the lsu game thursday night and there was no cover.

ETA: there were 4 of us who paid the ten so we had forty taken off our bill. Not a bad deal really

I had a frickin blast over there.

The atmosphere was great in walk-ons and happys. The staff was pretty cool. They were celebrating with the customers when the Saints scored or did something well.

The bartenders at Happys were kinda slow but I understand the circumstances. It was shoulder to shoulder in there as the game was ending. Walk Ons and Roux House were pretty quick.

Seems like they had everything under control too. Multiple security guards around the place plus the normal door guys and bar backs.

I'll probably go there every chance I have for home games

that was mentioned earlier .. and it is pretty much agreed that that is a good idea .. just need to find a way to present that on the sign outside of the door so that one just doesn't think it is a straight up cover charge ..

Agreed, I actually said are you serious when she asked for ten dollars. The lady ended up explaining it to ms which is why we all went in. Def should let people know about it though.

The food is better than it was at the campus one in the early days...it's been a looooooong work in progress unfortunately.

Knowing the full story now it seems to be a good idea. They should have better signs explaining the $10 credit that comes with the cover.

I think the point is not to explain it so you can weed out people. If they explain it on the sign like y'all are proposing, there is no point in having it at all.

Totally unrelated, but there's a pool in Vegas I'm going to with a $50 cover. If you spend $50 in food/drink though, the cover is waived.. but they don't put this on the sign. So it's the same deal. The cover is in place so the undesirable people wanting to go to the elite pool pass it up

I've paid $5 to get in JL's when there were 4 people inside, and they did not credit the money on my bill.

In that location, $10 is worth paying to have a bathroom and air conditioning on gameday.

i think the point of having it $10 is to weed out people that would otherwise just go into the bar and hangout and not spend any money.

money is money. who are they trying to weed out?

Reading your most recent post and looking at your avatar image...I was getting the wrong idea about your use of the word "weed".

people who just want to go in for 1 drink and leave. paying a $10 cover (without knowing the $10 credit thing) gets people to stay inside said establishment for more than 1 drink as they want to get their money's worth, aka the $10.

I just don't understand why a place that seemed to have built their business model on their foot-traffic proximity to a major sports venue would now want to "weed out" such a potential customer base.

I really find it hard to imagine that, absent this cover charge, they'd really get a lot of people just loafing around in their establishment on gamedays buying notthing. But, what the hell do I know?

Well maybe that's why they did it. They knew they were going to be slammed regardless so figured if they got everyone to spend at least $10, there was more money to be made

I really don't know the reasoning. I just know why they didn't explain on the sign that the $10 goes towards food/drink.

Get people in, make them psychologically feel the need to order 3 drinks, hope they get moderately hungry in the process (likely) and order more food and then order more drinks. Its not weeding out, its bait and switch. Not that there's anything wrong with it.
