Didn't go before, but they were handling the crowd with a $10 cover after the game. Sorry, I got too many other options in New Orleans to be paying $10 to get in the door.

That just doesn't seem like a great PR move for the long term.
I understand that the demand is there, but the idea of paying a cover to go into a sports bar just kind of seems cheesy to me.

Yeah, they had a sign that said $10 dollar cover at walk-on's. Obviously, that makes it seem like you have to fork it over just to get in. I don't understand it because happy's did not have one. I was wondering if the cover was for the upstairs balcony where people were just hanging out and drinking. No idea though.

I was impressed with how they handled most of it. They had like six or seven portable bars outside. I forgot to check out the prices. Across the street were the guys selling two for five out the ice chests. We ate at reginelli's. They even had empty tables the whole time. Walked through the allegro area and it wasnt nearly as packed as it usually is but this was an 45 minutes to gametime so people were headed over.

My biggest complaint is that the dome needs more female lines. 3 to 1 is ridiculous.

that's not a shock for the first home game .. but that is nothing more than a money grab ..

the only plausible explanation i can see with the $10 cover is to keep the riff raff that wanders the streets before and after games out of there ...

I don't read it as money grubbing. My impression is that they had so many effin people there they had to start charging a cover to keep the crowd manageable. If I had to guess, I would imagine they did it to turn people away for the greater good.

I'm sure that is the thought process, but why couldn't they just stop people from going in when it got to crowded? Just let a few people in when a few people leave.

Happy's had a cover also. Not sure if it was $10, but saw the guy at the door with the cash box and wristbands.

You have to give them credit, they went out of thier way to shoot themselves in the foot on the first weekend of business in NOLA. Great PR job.

So I'm hearing from a friend that for the $10 cover at walk-ons, they gave you a $10 voucher so as long as you spent $10 inside (per person), it was a wash. Still doesn't help the people who see the cover charge and get turned off and walk away.

Went before and after. They handled it pretty well. The $10 cover included a $10 credit on your bill. The beer taps in the tables were awesome.

Well that sounds alot better then. With the amount of people that were probably wanting to get in there just to stare at the tv's and such, they probably needed to do something like this.

I think it is unfair for people to immediately judge them. Give them some time to figure shite out. It was their first week open and first Saints game.

No shite! This is the precise reason I said a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't be unhappy if they put Allegro out of business.

Cover charge in a place where you're relying on a walkup crowd does nothing but piss people off.
