So what's with people from LA adding corn as a side to just about everything?

I follow this cooking page on facebook and I'll see someone with spaghetti and meat sauce...and then a side of corn on the same plate

Anyone else randomly add corn as a side to things like that where they don't appear to belong?

LA or La? Can’t say I’ve seen a lot of La recipes with the addition of corn.

Heck, it's even a staple in Japanese ramen, and there isn't much corn in Japan.

LA or La?

LA is Louisiana

L.A. is Los Angeles

La is the French feminine

La is the abbreviation, LA is the postal code.

sigh

The "abbreviation" for Louisiana, as noted by the Associated Press stylebook, is La. and not La, which is still the French feminine.

I needed to add something petty to this Seinfeld-esque topic.

Corn with every meal...WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?!?!??

I love corn when it’s fresh off the cob. In that fashion, I’d eat it before any protein.

Because in Louisiana, one can never have enough starch. Every Cajun meal has a three starch minimum. Five is best.

I don't know if it's an LA thing, but my whole life corn has always been a side with spaghetti, whether it was my parents, grandparents, or one of the local plate lunch places. I'm assuming, at least for the plate lunch places, a big pot of corn was easy to make, and doesn't taste (relatively) terrible after sitting in a warmer.

Summer time fresh out of the field on the cob, cut from the cob (cream style) it can be good. ~~ After many years of growing and eating various varieties in various ways, I have reached the conclusion it's best use is dried, ground into meal, or turned in to bourbon.
