Conversely, I very rarely see an end cut when I buy multi packs of steaks from Costco. Due to Sam's questionable practices, I now buy most of my steaks from Costco.

The problem with Costco is that they mechanically tenderize all of their meat.

TulaneLSU: 37 posts in the last 7 days.

Now do how many threads you start over the last seven days vs Jones?

You are correct on that one. The best way is to buy whole ribeyes and tenderloins and slice them yourself, or buy from a store like Calvins or Calandros that does not sneak an inordinate amount of end cuts into the packs.

Sometimes that is not practical to buy whole ones, and I need to just buy a multi pack of pre cut steaks.

I wonder why Sam's puts so many in their trays compared to other stores. I am specifically speaking of the Sam's on North Mall Drive. I have not really shopped at others, but am inclined to believe it's across the board.

I like Sam's but rarely buy their seafood.

It is interesting tho. I always assumed with bulk packaging the weight would be off but I just roll with it.

Buy most seafood local.

What are you going todo with the crab? Expires today.

This reminds me of a time when I was traveling the country in a car with a 12 gallon tank. I stopped off at a Flying J gas station out west and pumped 17.5 gallons into the car.

Do they actually freeze crab legs on the boat? Can't say I've heard of that. When I watch Deadliest Catch, they put them into a live well and then take them to the processor to be frozen and packaged.

Feller,

My understanding is that you live in South Louisiana. Why would you be purchasing seafood at Sam's?

Sincerely,

Is mother’s scale certified? She charges me $20 for a pound. I want to make sure I’m not getting ripped off.

Crab boats? No. The crabs are cooked before freezing. Crabs need to arrive to the processor alive.

There are huge processing ships which freeze tuna and some even catch fish such as pollock and process fish products (like McD Filet-o-Fish Patties) on the boat.

I enjoy this post from TL more than the usual.

Curious to see what comes out of this. 14.8 oz of fish advertised as 16 oz is definitely outside of the federal regulations.
