Sammys on Highland - going downhill?

went yesterday and second time this year... Cold fries, got a shimp poboy and the bread wasnt even toasted. Just a terrible shrimp poboy honestly. This was my second choice when they were out of the prime rib poboy
The ribeye cheesesteak special was horrible. I cant believe that was even served

I went for the crawfish last time... didnt realize the other stuff on the menu was complete garbage

Yep! I had a friend come to town and we took them to Sammy's on the 11th. Crawfish etouffee, gumbo, red beans, and the gator app. All were way too salty to eat, and just tasted like they put Tony's on top and called it a day. They also took the muffaletta off and boudin balls. I won't even be going back for crawfish season.

Is very inconsistent. I get food to go from there weekly because it 2 minutes from my house and my kids like it. Sometimes the food is hot and well cooked and sometimes I literally throw it in the trash. I mean how do you frick up a chicken fried steak and send it out the door?

Man, that sucks to hear. I used to love their chicken fried steak.
I can't say I'm surprised to hear it's going downhill, but I'm hoping they turn it around. That's been my go-to whenever I come back into town the last couple years.

If you get takeout, it will be fricked up 100% of the time. Makes me insane. Mediocre overpriced food.

I've defended this place for years now. But after several mediocre meals, and then this chicken friend steak garbage; I said never again.

Me too. It was my favorite for a long time. The last few times I got it the batter did not adhere to the meat at all and it was burnt on the inside.
Olive or Twist has a good one on Tuesdays. Dempseys has a great one on Wednesdays.

All of the above may be true...but the waitresses are attractive and the garlic-butter boiled crabs are excellent, when available.

Had a burger from Georges Southside and one from Sammy's within a week of each other. I swear the Sammy's burger was a frozen patty.

Has it ever been uphill?? I've never thought it was worth a shite. The fried cheese is about the only redeeming thing they have on the menu.
