SIAP(I searched)

I see the Roux Rally is rapidly approaching- February 9th. I know in the past we had a few posters cooking. Anyone entering this year?

This is a fun event if you have never been.

Every year we have posters from this board enter

Only to then come complain how the event is rigged and the people don’t know what real gumbo is. I expect this year to be no different

I don’t enter the contest or vote. I just show up for beer and gumbo.

I don't know if it is rigged or not, but the hands down best one I had out there last year didn't even place.

Pro-Tip -- skip the rice so you can try more contestant's gumbo

Iirc, most don't give rice. It's just a little serving cup of gumbo only

The judges have no idea whos gumbo theyre eating so definitely not rigged. The people complaining are the ones who didn't place I'm sure

I’ll be cooking for the 6th year in a row.

I always jokingly say it’s rigged, but i don’t actually believe that. Just a coincidence I suppose.

That being said, some guys next to us won a few years ago and they used jar roux, Swanson’s stock, manda sausag, and Guidrys trinity. It wasn’t good to me or anyone else I know that tried it. But hey, they won so more power to them.

If I were the organizers, I would have pushed the times of the events back a couple hours so it wouldn't be competing with the LSU Basketball game vs. Auburn happening at the same time.

Pushed it back to when? The game will be over at like 3pm

Yeah, and the event ends at 4, which means if you want to swing both, you'll get downtown just in time for everyone to be cleaning up and loading up their pots.

I would have it start around 2:30 and have it ending about 6.

All gumbo will be eaten regardless of basketball game. We might bring a small tv out there to catch the game
