I have seldom had a problem with faulty products from a grocer, Rouse's in changing that. In the last couple of months I got a piece of plastic in a loaf of bread (I give them a pass on this since they didn't bake it), a nickel sized bone chip in Rouse's smoked sausage and a rancid can of black olives, Rouse's brand. The olives ruined an egg salad, I had to throw it out.

I'm beginning to think that this isn't an anomaly.

The one on Burbank is good now but I have a feeling it could go to shite in the future. The workers fir the most part dont seem to give a shite about anything, minus like 1 seafood guy

Olives in egg salad nearly made me throw up.

Is that a common thing?

New Rouses that are built seem to be good but old grocery stores they turned into Rouses are shite.

Rouses has plummeted in quality ever since they have begun expansion.

It is mostly with stores that have been converted as opposed to freshly built.

I was a fan when the chain had just a few outlets...the continued expansion has not yielded quality across the various locations. Some are well managed, others are a complete wreck, with old/past dated products on the shelf. My mother lives in a semi rural area where her choices are Rouse's, Rouse's, and WalMart...and the WalMart is actually surpassing Rouse's in variety/quality these days. That's an exceptionally low standard, ya know.

I've quit shopping at Rouse's for dairy, meat, poultry, etc... Only things such as liquor, beer, and wine now

This more than anything else will cause a store to fail. It is a comment I have heard too many times coming out of the BR area lately. That city wasn't that way when I grew up there.

The seafood has gone to complete shite... let me find the pic of their tuna today.

I stick to Costco of fresh market nowadays... And the prices are all comparable.

That chunk of tuna looks like it's about a week past its "Use By" date.

It's not.

Most metro nola rouses are hot garbage. Produce section is bad.

This topic comes up a lot on FD Board.

The new Rouses always are impressive. But metro nola they are really only shop in town so they can get away with it.

Sad sad day indeed. LeBlancs was great. Amazing! Awesome! We won’t even go there now that it’s a Rouses.

We typically drive to Rouses on Airline which is pretty nice. I’ll go to the one on Bluebonnet in a pinch. But not Drusilla.

I miss LeBlanc's too. Hammond Rouse's definitely has issues. I would not be surprised to find tuna in that condition. The salmon fillets always look like they've been sitting there for days. And I've quit buying things from the bakery - tired of stale/dry cupcakes, cake, etc. About the only reason to go there is beer/liquor and when they have good sales on produce. The hot bar which used to have a good variety, now only has fried chicken and chicken wings.

I always feel like these threads are a great way of drawing out the folks who work for Associated Grocers.

Which ones? I usually only go to 3 and don't have an issue with produce. I don't buy seafood from grocery stores. There are too many options for fresh and local seafood in this city.

I used to drive trucks for Fed Ex while in law school. It disgusted me that I was delivering fish to Whole Foods in a truck without coolers.
