Are there ANY Chinese places in the NOLA area that are open?

I've tried calling 7-8 different places in two cities and ALL are closed.

it's almost as if they are worried about being open cause this virus is from China? I mean, most Chinese places are custom-built to handle take-out.

I hope no one gets offended by me saying this, but...

Most restaurant owners are TERRIBLE businesspeople. Most of these places used last week's sales to pay for this week's inventory. Little to no savings or backup plan to speak of. And when your employees basically have 90 percent of their earnings come from tips, they don't want to show up if they aren't going to make much in tips. And the ones that do, now those owners are more likely to have to make up the missed tips to get the employees to min wage amount.

IF they can float through the rent and utilities and debt service, they can probably rebuild quickly once re-opened, but that's a big IF for a lot of these places.

I don't know if they're worse business people than others, maybe, but it's a difficult business. You're talking about single digit margins during the best of times.

I was planning on ordering GW Fins for my anniversary tomorrow but they are now closed in addition to almost every nicer restaurant in the city. Any suggestions for places that are still doing take out?

I haven’t been to Vincent’s yet.

But I’ve read the menu...I could eat every damn dish on it.

I am not normally a cannelloni person, but since it is their specialty, I was convinced to get it.

I will never get another dish there.

Confirmed - had Blue Giant the other night. You pick up outside from the owner, who has an n95 mask and gloves on. Just bizzaro world.
