If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all

Ben's Burgers shut down? But I thought it was the best burger in the universe

The problem is the locally owned places will be the ones not to return, while chains with corporate backing will.

Spot on. I agree with everything you said except our sales went down 30-40% on all ready slow days and 50-60% on weekend/typical busier days since bars and clubs were closed and my business is a post party destination. Not to mention Video Poker is the only profit a business like mine sees and has been shut down state wide for two weeks. Food sales cover most of the bills but VP is a safety net in times like these. It was depressing for not only me but my employees to show up to work. We would go 8 hours on an overnight shift with $150 in sales def better to close up.

I’m very sorry for what you and the small places are going through

Got a friend downtown that owns a smaller new place. He tried to make a go of it. 1st 3 days of to go sales were $40, $33, $25. Said screw it.

Hope the reopening is soon. Good luck.

Which place?
It looks like the Link group shut down their places today too

Friday and Saturday were insane at my place. Sold out of crawfish both days and was only down about 20%. Earlier in the week was kind of slow but the wife and I worked and came out alright. We do a lot of takeout normally though.
We made a large order to come in Monday we’ll see how that gamble pays off.

I’ve heard Dragos in Metairie dining room is open. They are sitting every other table and every other seat.
Has anyone heard this. I’m considering my source.

I very seriously doubt that, but then again, the local politicians and such love them some Tommy.

I’m going tomorrow to find out

I saw a couple of signs on W. Esplanade the other day saying Drago's was open. Didn't say take out either.

I expect mexican restaurants to get it hardest. Take out not as easy and so much volume tied to frozen margaritas for karen.

Crawfish sales are crushing it. If you own a seafood market right now or a grocery store you haven't skipped a beat. Bevi, Schaefer's, Capt Sids, Dennis' are doing fine.

Pretty sure they aren't. Their website says it's pickup only. Dining rooms being closed was part of the State restrictions. They were pretty cut and clear about that mandate, not vague at all.

I would bet if you removed liquor revenue from places that sold booze the profit margin would be almost 0% for the owner.
I also disagree on the chains. This is going to hit the corporate restaurants plenty hard. The ones that were barely making it I would bet plenty of them close shop too.
The places that do survive though, they'll come out of this slammed as the amount of options is going to be slim for at least a year.

I think ur neighborhood type local restaurants that have good food for good value will make it out of this as winners at least compared to everyone else when it is all said and done. The higher end places in New Orleans rely too much on tourists coming in ready to blow a bunch of money hitting as many top restaurants as they can. Like a food tour. The restaurants will local regulars will see a surge when they open back up.

Like they are not opening back up even after this is all over? Where did you hear/see this?
Restaurant space rents in the Lakeside area are stupid high right now. It's claimed several places (Jaegar's, NOLA Original Daiquiris, Morning Call), Bravo just announced they are closing. Would not surprise me to see PF Chang throwing in the towel, at least at that location.

Not too many are going to survive.
