Going with a group of friends and spouses next month for wife’s bday. Any suggestions? Not too casual. Would like to stay downtown. Anything new and great?

Last suggestion was Justines but I didn’t care for it. Someone is suggesting Clancy’s this time.

Thanks for the help.

You could do a lot worse than Clancy's. I went a month ago, and it was a pretty normal dining experience.

Clancy's is always great.

Some places that I enjoy:

Costera
Elysian Bar
Lilette
Paladar 511
Marjie's (this is very casual)
Saffron
Saint-Germaine

Costera

Their Mixed Roasted Mushrooms with Sourdough Croutons and Warm Egg Yolk may be the best thing I've had all year.

I love Clancy's. It is my second favorite upscale gourmet bistro in that neighborhood, my favorite being Gautreau's. Third would be Brigtsten's.

GW Fins is always great IMO. It's in the quarter though.

LPG is a great choice. If downtown, I love Herbsaint.

Clancy’s is just so boring to me.

And it’s not close to downtown

I haven't been in maybe 3-4 years, but Bayona was fantastic last time I went. It's in the upper quarter.

Peche is great. Also really enjoyed Cochon (slightly more casual).

Going to Cochon Saturday for a bday.

They really take care of you there. Reach out to them ahead of time and they’ll hook y’all up.

One of the group is suggesting a Pelican Club. I guess we are going old school. Never been myself.

Pelican Club is fine but definitely nothing overly special, to say the least.
