I read somewhere that some will freeze the stick and then use a cheese grater

freeze both butter and flour.

Use a micro rasp to plane the butter in.

Do not over mix.

I love the Mary B's tea biscuits, but I have a hard time finding them sometimes.

I tried Mary B's from a suggestion from this board.

To me, they taste oddly chemical.

Agree that Mary Bs can have an off taste.
But homemade scratch biscuits made with real buttermilk blows away a prefab biscuit every time.

They do not beat homemade. A biscuit must be able to be split in half.

I have tried all the butter incorporation methods. Hand cut into flour, frozen and grated into flour, melted and drizzled into cold buttermilk. Now I just toss the butter into a food processor and pulse a few times. They all work and make better biscuits than Mary B’s.

I agree Mary B’s are good but you gotta be able to split them, and Mary B’s just fall apart

I cook one almost every morning for my little girl, not worth making a fresh batch every day like some better-than-thou posters suggest.

Never had a problem splitting one with a knife.

You can freeze homemade biscuits, unbaked, and bake them one at a time.

I've done that, but going from frozen to cooked they almost never rise and a lot of times turn into a hockey puck.

Not sure what the difference is in the pillsbury ones that change that.

I didn’t have any Mary B’s but I did have some flour, butter, salt and milk. :)

I’ve never made homemade biscuits but I’m a biscuit lover.

I’ve always preferred the grands frozen or pilsbury over Mary Bs

Breakfast biscuits - Need to be splittable

Biscuits with lunch or dinner - Splitting isn't necessary

Once you get the recipe and process committed to memory, it’s actually pretty surprising how fast and easy it is to get a pan of biscuits done from scratch.

But I agree, for mid week breakfasts, it’s easier to use frozen.

Ugh, I was trying to copy and paste Chinese writings saying thank you but failed.

???

Mother fricker, it converts it over to question marks when I copy and paste.

I was a Mary B’s fan for years til I bought the Pillsbury grands frozen biscuits one time and have stuck with them ever since....they rise higher and are more fluffy IMO.
