I understand this board fancies themselves above such regular breakfast staples, but I’m a man who has eaten biscuits all over the United States. I love them.

The best biscuits I’ve ever ate in my life though are Mary B’s frozen biscuits. Put them in a glass dish thing, go 400 for 23 minutes, butter both sides hot. I’m telling you, it’s worth it. Now you can’t cut them in half or they fall apart, but you got to over look that.

A lot of people like Popeye’s biscuits. These blow them out the park if you cook them correctly until brown and butter them. I’ve made mine from scratch for years, this puts every recipe I’ve tried to shame.

I didn’t know about these until recently and I felt I had to share.

I though that was common knowledge, I've been a fan of mary's B since the early 80's. When she gaind distribution in Walmart her brand soared. It's became such a big sellin in WM that they did what wally does and made a knock off of her delights. THey come pretty close to her greatness but don't quite deliver all the way.

I feel I need to let you know that your secret is no such thing. The rest of the free world has known about Mary B’s biscuits for decades. You should delete this thread

A biscuit that won't rise is an indication of old baking powder, or not enough baking powder.

I have had this same problem with Miz B's biscuits. I'd just as soon go with Pillsbury. At least I can count on them to be consistent from purchase to purchase. With Miz B's, you never know.

I myself am also young into my journey of Mary B’s after having eaten for the first time last month.

Saturday mornings are now Mary B mornings.

I made biscuits from scratch the other week and they didn't rise but tasted good. I think it's because i mistakenly thought the butter needed to be room temp.

Always cold butter.

I'll chop the butter into tablespoon portions and then stick in the freezer (covered) for a little bit.

I read somewhere that some will freeze the stick and then use a cheese grater

The true greatness of a biscuit is not how they taste with an egg and a sausage patties on them, but how they taste with just plain butter.

The best I've had is Pine State Biscuits in Portland, OR. I used to get the Reggie Deluxe with a buttered biscuit on the side...

The Reggie Deluxe is legendary...

It's a little bit of a crime not to make one's own biscuits. The key is white lily self-rising flour. I think the recipe came out of Southern living. Uses frozen butter grated on a cheese grater, buttermilk, the aforementioned flour and optional salt and/or sugar. Once you've done it a time or two, you won't have to look at the recipe, you can just eyeball it.
