True New Orleanians do not go to Jazz Fest. It's for tourists and transplants who think it makes them local. Of the many fourth or more generational New Orleanians I know, 90% have never been to Jazz Fest.

What a joke. My friends and family are as old New Orleans as you can get and I know plenty that go to Jazz Fest every year or at least every other year.

Jazz Fest is a corruption of New Orleans culture brought down on us by a Massachusetts carpetbagger. Some of you may have been duped, but not I.

Every year it has enough music that anyone who likes music can find something to enjoy and enough food that anyone who likes food can enjoy. I can only hope you aren't as uptight as your online persona comes across as.

False, no one from my graduating class in high school went to LSU. FWIW, both of my parents are graduates of Tulane.

One of my dad's friends corrupted me at a young age to be a Tiger fan. I still think my dad is pissed about it.

I remember when they first started it they claimed that they were competing with Jazzfest and wanted to give locals the option of not going.

Well I haven't heard any mention of it in the last 15 years.

As for the Rice Festival its just as much white trash as any festival in Louisiana.

I agree, never said the rest of the small town festivals weren't trashy.

something about food + festivals brings out the WT like no other

Oh, and TA, already been said but I'd go with Festival International.

How many went to Ole Miss or Bama?

I love the N.O. assholes who think it's really something to send their kids to those schools, but wouldn't be caught dead sending them to LSU.

It is rather pompous and hypocritical, but that's what makes the Uptowners who they are. They drive around in their dad's beat up 1975 diesel Mercedes and live in the house that was given to them by their great grandfathers, but going to LSU is beneath them because it has Huey Long's taint on it.

I concur, but when you combine Met/Kenner...it is impressive.

Bozo's, Galley, Ristorante da Piero, Cypress, Le Parvenue, Drago's, Vincent's, Vega Tapas, Impastato's, Pellicano, Pho Bang, Kanno, Korea House, Taj Mahal, Siamese.

Shogun should definitely get one of the Metairie spots. Best Japanese restaurant in Louisiana by miles.
