last time i hit crawfish fest in BB i was really let down.

Seriously?

Is the state of BR food that bad or is LC improving?

LC improving and in BR there are some really good places but the majority of the people dont know where they are. In LC if you stopped and asked just anyone where to eat you will generally get a good response. In BR you will in most cases get directed to avg but popular place like a Chimes or something.

Zea's is a decent outing with avg to good food. Simular to Chimes that it just gets way too much praise making it overrated. Simular to Jaques-Imo's or Camillia Grill in NOLA.

Jazzfest is my favorite fesival for food. In Acadiana I like the Crawfish and Rice Festival the most. As for Lafayette they have a couple of decent ones but I dont like how they make an attempt at one upping Jazz Fest. Its sorta like the ULL chip on the shoulder mentality that carries over into the rest of Lafayette. I also didnt like how Baton Rouge tried a simular thing last year. If you want to have a big festival that is GREAT however dont try and have it on Jazzfest weekends to try and prove your worth.

When these fest average over a million in attendance, then they can come onto the same plateau as JazzFest.

Even French Quarter Fest was around 500,000-600,000 in one weekend. Solid.

Of course, we have the infrastructure to support such crowds...BR and Laffy do not...so they have built in problems when trying to garner that quantity of tourist for a contrvied festival.

I don't think Festival International is trying to compete with Jazzfest.

and the Rice Festival is about as white trash as you can get

True New Orleanians do not go to Jazz Fest. It's for tourists and transplants who think it makes them local. Of the many fourth or more generational New Orleanians I know, 90% have never been to Jazz Fest.

I lauged out loud.

Also, the over-rated argument involving Zea's/Chimes and Jaques-Imo's/Camelia Grill is a little ridiculous.

I remember when they first started it they claimed that they were competing with Jazzfest and wanted to give locals the option of not going.

As for the Rice Festival its just as much white trash as any festival in Louisiana. I certainly do not think its any worse than the Strawberry, Crawfish, Jambalaya, Frog or Gumbo festivals its pretty much the same.. I just find its better spread out than say the Strawberry fest.

I did as well. Solo, does that mean I am a ten percenter? My parents are 67 and they go to the Jazz Fest every year. I don't know anyone who hasn't been atleast once. Most of the people I know go to atleast three days of every Jazz Fest.

7.) Shreveport

My list exactly. I would even put Kenner and Metairie individually above every other city and region in the state. (Besides New Orleans obviously.) Gretna by itself can compete. Lafayette dining should be a lot better than it is.
