This is about to be my plan.
In about the same alcohol equivalents? One drink=one beer? This is a learning time for me.

Very Ron Swansonish.

This is about to be my plan. Figure IPA weather is winding down.
When you put it that way, I kinda think it would be the best time for myself as well. I'm definitely way more into IPAs/sours anyway. A stout every so often and then wine or liquor most of the winter wouldn't be too bad.

This brings up another thought.
What goes into the caloric content of a beer?
Does it automatically go up as the ABV goes up?
Other factors?
I know Guinness is pretty low in calories.

It's that cold stuff you love so much, believe it's called stout weather.

For example,
A RIS we just brewed the other day started with a sugar content of 1.099 which is a lot. Most beers start around 1.055 or 1.065 for a 5-7% beer and finish at 1.010 or so.
This beer finished at 1.026 so it has a lot of residual sugars left along with 9.6% alcohol.
I'm assuming it has a ton of calories.

A Bourbon County Stout is 475 calories

IPAs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Stouts
I don't need no special weather to drink IPAs.

I agree with
I have deluded myself into thinking that there is light beer and regular beer. I knew there was some caloric fluctuations, but never knew it was this pronounced.
One more thing to ruin food and drink enjoyment.

Combo of 2 and 5 plus plenty of exercise for me. I am 56 and I just have to watch what and how much I eat so I can keep drinking beer.

I'm pretty sure I've been through all 5 of your assumptions, well not 4!
i'm 5'11 and weight in at 185 but at 46 i'm happy with my weight. For me i just try to eat healthy when i can skip fast food and cokes but i still love eat all the great foods that south La. has to offer its just in moderation as i've gotten older, in my 40's I've kept a simple plan...
exercise when i can drink what i want, i'm sure my 50's will be more of the same

Same here. It gets a little harder each year though.
