Wow, some of y'all are little. How are y'all drinking four 7% beers and waking up in the morning?
Because I believe children are our future.

Those damn munchies get me all the time and my work environment is terrible too.
Having lots of good beer available all the time is pretty tempting, but like someone else said, I've discovered that when drinking really hoppy beers, the taste buds get skewed pretty quick. I shut it down, rather than continue to drink them.
That and the fact that I really think that many IPAs just taste better on tap, and I don't like taking the risk of drinking and driving.

We're close to the same height, but I got you by about 40 lbs. I am planning on losing that 40 lbs. by next summer. I rarely drink more than 1-2 per day, so I try to make them count. Some days I have only 1. Some days I don't have any.

Because everyone in Oregon is super skinny with a long beard and wearing sandals?

Your friends might wonder why they aren't losing weight because there are 65 calories in an ounce of vodka. If they are doing a 2 ounce pour, they might as well have a beer.
If you're posing this question to the FBD like your title says, switching from craft beer to wine or liquor will absolutely make some kind of difference.
May not be as good as drinking nothing, but it's certainly less calories. Most people can't throw back 4 double vodka drinks either. Youre drinking less drinks.

No, it appeared you were on your way to a rough morning.

I'm 6 foot 1 and right now weigh 208. I was up to 245 a few years back. Started running a lot and got down to 205. Stopped running for a bit and got up to 225.
Back to running again and eating better. I can't do beer every night. Try to stick to the weekends and maybe one day during the week. As you can tell I need to run to keep the weight down with my lifestyle.

Nope. Not even close...

I've had to cut back a lot on my beer drinking lately after I've gained about 25lbs in the last 3 years. I blame a lot of that on craft beer drinking. Recently cut it back to one night a week and diet/exercise the other 6 days of the week.
I tend to put weight on quick if I don't watch though but I can also take it off pretty quick if I crack down on it.

Maybe. Maybe not.
All I am saying is that if someone is going to drink one double vodka (195 calories) they can drink 1 IPA at 180-200 calories.
Wine may be a bit less if you stick to a 5 oz pour. Big "if"
My point is that people delude themselves when it comes to food and drink-me included- and wonder why they don't lose.
I was shocked to see how little 1.5 oz. really is.

Maybe for some. I'd have an easier time drinking 4 double gins (like you I prefer it to vodka) than four 8% IPAs.
Bottom line is that I am not trying to come up with absolutes here. Just general statements that people may be drinking more calories in wine and liquor than they think.

I lost nearly 30 lbs over the past 10 months, and didn't give up craft beer. Imagine that.
I don't drink 1-4 a night. I tried to avoid carbs other than beer, in cycles. I fasted 12-16 hrs a day. Among a myriad of other things.
Beer and liquor are not the same thing when it comes to body composition by any means. Primarily because there are no carbs in liquor. Weight loss is definitely driven by calorie intake/output, but there is a lot to be said about how you set up your hormones to prepare for the calories you are going to send them.

It counts

Same. When I was service industry, I was tiny because I was on my feet the entire time I was at work.. I didn't have time to eat at work.. then I'd sleep late and go until 4pm the next day before I decided to actually exert energy into getting/making food.
Now that I think about it, I bet working in an office setting and being awake from early AM until ~11pm has a lot to do with my weight gain.

Quit munching on Corn Nuts between fares. And Jax, we know you love the beer cart rolling through the office every afternoon.
I used to be able to eat and drink anything and everything, hitting 40 changed all that. My metabolism has continued to slow as the number of really good craft beers I have access to has continued to increase. And my knee precludes me running outside of those times I'm being chased by something or someone. Last year, I gave up beer and only drank bourbon for 2 months and dropped 26 pounds, that came back, but very slowly. Figured I would just do that every year, but more Ghost started showing up, and I keep getting these amazing beers through BXN's and on my beercations, so it appears I'm destined to be fat and happy.

So, I can put those BA beers I was picking up for you at Lost Abbey next week back on the shelf?

I said I was taking a break, not going sober.
Maybe I need to be on a program that only allows liquids from a barrel.

I've lost 47.5 in the same time. I didn't either. I just monitor how much (how little-sadly) I have.

Thank you for this information. I am not in any way claiming to be an expert, or even learned, in this area. If wine or liquor might be better options despite caloric "equality" I want to learn about it.
I have been obsessed with weight watcher points because it has worked for me, so that is really my only orientation.

What is this IPA weather you speak of? If there's weather outside, it's IPA season.
