Back in 2007, I was a fatass. Got up to 222 pounds at 5'11" and just didn't care what I ate or drank. Through a combination of eating better and running, I dropped 60 pounds and got down to 160-165 and maintained that for several years. Did a lot of running during that period, so much that I ended up burning out on it. I started drinking more, eating more and running less, and I've put on about 30 pounds.
I'd like to lose that weight, but I like good food and beer too much. A knee injury has set me back with my running for the last 6+ months, but I am trying to work my way back from it. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get in my groove of waking up early to run. And honestly, a lot of that is because I'm drinking too many beers the night before.
My problem is an inability to stop after 2 beers. I get to feeling nice after a couple, and then grab another and then another. I need to change that.

I maintain a steady diet of beer. When I'm starting to get fatter I cut out supper at night and just drink a bunch of whiskey. Works well and I stay nice and svelte.

There has been a couple of times when I've used my points allotment for the day so I've had a cigar and a diet Dr. Pepper as a supper alternative.

Damn, I'm going to have to check out FB to see this I guess. Hard to believe.
As for the OP's question,
I don't drink that many beers every day. Have bought significantly less beer within the last year or two than previously and may only have 1 or 2 beers a night then switch to liquor or wine for the rest of my alcohol consumption.
I try to eat healthyish during the day and at lunch and eat a pretty hearty meal for supper because my wife cooks extremely well and very southern.
I still probably carry 15# or so extra due to beer drinking but try to stay active during the week working out and on weekends biking or kayaking.
6' 215# don't know what I'd call my body type but I'm definitely an XL type person.

There are about 70 calories per ounce of liquor and 85 per 3.5 ounces of wine.
You don't save anything by drinking those.
Not trying to be a jerk.

I've destroyed all the evidence. Including the multiple chins.

That sums it up. I am lucky in a sense (not my wallet, though) that I'm full after only a little bit of food because I am able to enjoy whatever I want. I have no interest in quitting eating what I love. Like I said, I don't eat BAD. I just don't eat diet food regularly.
I also have no interest in quitting beer. I know some of the FBD people only drink on weekends.. or some friends of mine just do vodka/water to lose weight. Beer is something I love. I don't want to stop that. My 1-3 beers each night is the only decent part of work days.

aside from helath aspects, another thing that really halted me from drinking all those beers consecutively was loss of taste. I love IPAs so after a couple of big IPA's my pallet was crushed. So moving on to something else was kind of a waste since all i could taste was hops.
i've said it for a while that after some time unless you have great genes or super high metabolism, you can't do this all the time. there are people that just in fact do not gain weight. my cousin eats everything in sight and weighs like 145 (he's 5'11). He doesn't really workout on the reg nor run much. When he was a kid he did lots of hiking and what not but was never an athlete. It's just the blessing of genes i guess

Your friends might wonder why they aren't losing weight because there are 65 calories in an ounce of vodka. If they are doing a 2 ounce pour, they might as well have a beer.
In their defense, it just doesn't seem right that vodka has calories.

Living in New Orleans adds more lbs to my gut than beer.

I hear that. I gained a bunch of weight when I moved half time to Savannah.

you know, because all beers have the same calorie content...

I think you can throw out #4. I believe the people are drinking what they post. With the people I've met, they seem to be a combo of the other numbers. I think like 1 or 2 people have looked like they work out or in shape
I don't drink 4 beers a night but I think the weight would stay down because of #5. I'm not intentionally eating less because of the beer. I just tend to like healthier foods

I think you're right. Briefly scanned and didn't see anything.

I'm going to have ~3 or so drinks/night anyway and beer is undoubtedly worse for you calorie wise than some other options.

If on the other hand, you're not willing to make major changes to your food diet while drinking, then you can simply change the type of alcohol you drink. Instead of a few big hearty pints of beer, go for a couple rum with diet cokes or a high ranking glass of wine. Stay away from drinks mixed with soft drinks, and high calorie liquors.

especially the beers the typical FBDer is drinking. Not all beers are a 95 cal natty light.
i work out and eat decent so i can enjoy my vices.

I know not all beers have the same caloric content but is there something more here that makes beer "worse?"

yes, the IPAs on the list are all in the 180-220 calorie range.
I have a kegerator in my dining room with up to three taps of homebrewed beer on at any given time. That's a lot of calories sitting there waiting for me to consume.
Plus I love liquors too much and wines have snuck their way into the rotation recently because they're not very filling and can be very clean feeling when eating with a meal.
