No, which is why I said it’s a couple of dollars high. But it’s not shocking.

A “couple dollars high” is a lot

That’s what the thread has developed into, yes. But it started off as: why were they charging $22 for a cheeseburger?

I don’t consider Poboy Express a chain. It’s a mom and pop type place with multiple locations.

Immediately my thought when I read the OP. Zero chance I'm paying that. And IDGAF how many patties it has on it.

Paying $60 for one item at poboy express is insane, even if it does have 4 patties on it

If you look at their online menu, everything is "market price."

Not disagreeing - I'm genuinely asking. How big are the patties? Are they 1/2 lb patties, or 3-4 oz patties?

I don’t care if they put half a cow on a slice of bread, Poboy Express is extremely mediocre, which is perfectly fine if you just need something quick. But at the prices they are charging? Ridiculous.

This, lol. A couple dollars high on a $10 item is 20-30% high. That’s a fricking lot high

I’m with you, I eat it a few times a year when I want a quick poboy but I’ve never understood people’s love for it. Everything about the place is average. I know the 225 Awards get a little political but when they won Best Poboy it made me laugh.

Yeah they told me $24 for their smallest combo box the other day. They just decided to write “market price” on everything

That's a good way to lose my business. At least indefinitely, maybe permanently.

It's about a chain having items nearly double the costs as some similar priced & sized items as other mom & pop places in town. When chains are supposed to have lower production costs off the bat.

IMO this is what is alarming! They have a drive thru so that classifies them as as fast food to me. To have Market Price on their drive through menu is, border line criminal and price gouging. Since the pandemic the price of ground meat has gone up 6% so a 20-25% price increase would not bother me and is fair, but if a similar item is $12.95 at a comparable establishment vs $20-$30 at Poboy Express that's not market price. I don't care how hungry I am if the price at the drive thru says MP, I'm driving off to find somewhere else.

Why not go to Central Buffet instead? AYCE for around $14 for dinner.

Please, invite 4 friends over, tell them you will provide all the food, and break out 8 chicken tenders, 1 cheeseburger poboy, and a small fry. I'm sure everyone will leave stuffed!

Judging by the 2 or 3 goofballs in this thread, there will be idiots that keep it afloat
