This. Wife loves it so I stepped up my tolerance over time and now I actually like the flavor now.

India, Thai, Mexican and Central/South American cuisines all feature it.

I like it. Wife likes it. And I like all of the cuisines listed above to one degree or another.

And like most herbs in various and sundry culinary heritages, it has health benefits:

quote:

Toxic Metal Cleansing Cilantro is most often cited as being effective for toxic metal cleansing and rightfully so, this herb is a powerful, natural cleansing agent. The chemical compounds in cilantro bind to toxic metals and loosen them from the tissue. Many people suffering from mercury exposure report a reduction in the often-cited feeling of disorientation after consuming large and regular amounts of cilantro over an extended period.

Other Benefits of Cilantro

May be able to help prevent cardiovascular damage. [1]
The School of Life Science in Tamil Nadu, India noted, after researching the anti diabetic activity of cilantro, the leaves and stem, “if used in cuisine would be a remedy for diabetes.” [2] Strong antioxidant activity.
[3] Has been shown to have anti-anxiety effects.
[4] May help improve sleep quality.
[5] Has been examined and described to have a blood-sugar lowering effect.
[6] Cilantro seed oil possess antioxidative and antihyperglycemic properties, consumption may decrease oxidative stress.
[7] Research conducted by The Dental School of Piracicaba in Brazil found cilantro oil to be a new natural antifungal formulation opportunity. [8] Demonstrated antibacterial activity. [9] Has demonstrated anti-fungal activity. [10]

Hate IPAs. Love Cilantro but refuse to pronounce it like Steven Raichlen.

I can't get enough of it either whether it be Mexican themed food or any sort of soup. I usually need to request more when ordering a bowl of Ph?.

It is sort of like lavender can be overpowering and soapy tasting. A little goes a looong way.

I didn't know some people didn't care for cilantro. I would have a hard time cooking Fajita's or quite a few other dishes without it.

I don't care for it at all. But I love ground cumin. Use it in Mexican dishes, chili, burgers, etc.

I like. some others love it, the wife on the other hand, doesn't like it at all. When I cook, I add it a little at a time as it cooks so she never knows its there. Great stuff, imo. Gimme yours!

I love it but then again I'm half Mexican and grew up putting cilantro, chopped onions and squeezing limes on my dinner. I am surprised at all the hate it's getting on here. Everyone's got a different palate - eat what you like.
