This is one of the few times I wish a food thread could be on the OT.
For some reason the poors and rednecks love them some well done steaks with Heinz 57 or ketchup

When me and my wife started dating I cooked steaks and she wanted hers well done.

Pretty much told her that she could leave and I would never cook a steak like that.

I guess she liked it medium because she's still here.

ETA and my father in law won't really eat the steak I cook. It's been like 10+ years, I refuse to burn it. Must not matter much to him because they always ask me to cook.

I don't care what other people do as long as I'm not paying. If I'm paying for dinner and I know the other person orders well done it's not going to be a high end place. I'm not spending over 40 dollars for a well done filet mignon whether I'm eating it or not.

Even if it is someone who gives you business? I do business with this one gentlemen from Tulsa and we see each other twice a year at Chris’ for lunch. He gets the filet butterflied and well done and Coca Cola with a straw. It’s the only place he wants to go and it’s the only thing he has ever ordered. The contracts he sends me, he could order well done boogers and I’ll buy.

The rarest steak I ever saw was when a guy ordered his well done. It was barely even gray on the outside and raw AF inside.

Everyone at the table was like WTF? He sent it back, and they must have hit it another 30 seconds or so on the grill. It was still rare as hell.

The rest of us who ordered medium or medium-rare got steaks as ordered.

In retrospect, I think the cook was a pissed off Bourdain type who was fricking with the guy for ordering well done, it was truly bizarre.

I serve my guests what they like to eat. I’m a medium rare person. I will overcook a steak for those who want it. Rare occasion that it happens. I only know one person who requires well done.

you’re a dick

When you are a chef and someone asks you to cook their steak a certain way and you refuse, that just doesnt make any sense... just buy them sirloins and get you the well aged ribeye.

Why would anyone put ketchup on a steak? That’s worse than making it well-done.
