People who drink unsweetened espresso

No milk or sweetener, because they enjoy it better that way. Who are those people?
I drink coffee black, but will never reach their level.
Same with guys who drink their whiskey neat.
Is it a pride thing? I know they drink it slower with small sips, but how do they find the taste to be better...

Not everyone is a sugar junkie. When I drink espresso black, I don’t sip it. It’s knocked back in tow or three gulps....and I’m out the door. Sometimes it’s just fuel.

I like Bourbon with water or soda to “open it up”. Coffee black is great.
Just trying to understand the people who can go next level with it. Straight whiskey burns the tissue of my mouth and tastes like pain.

Other than some Bailey's when at the beach or on a flight, I haven't put sugar in my coffee in over 35 years.
I'll have bourbon on the rocks, but I drink Irish whiskey neat.

You can actually taste the quality in the coffee. I enjoy a good straight shot here and there. I never realized how much espresso tastes like chocolate until I had it that way.

I only drink bourbon neat or with 1 cube of ice. It’s not a pride thing, good bourbon is supposed to be enjoyed neat. Buy better bourbon.

Espresso straight is great - you can really taste the quality of the coffee and if done well, has an amazing creamy texture with crema head. Like night and day with drip/similar black coffee. Got into straight espresso in Paris since I didn't know how to order anything else.
I can't really do coffee black, it's more of the watery texture that ends up being a problem so I do sugar/creamer.

I drink straight espresso at decent coffee shops. It’s great. Starbucks is bad, French Truck and Stumptown are good.

Espresso is supposed to be consumed fairly quickly. I love the bold and bitter taste.

There's a Latin American expression about coffee.. (I know it in English but not Spanish) Espresso should be, "Black as night, sweet as love, and hot as hell."

I learned a trick in Europe: suck a lemon wedge just before shooting the espresso. the bitter of the lemon will cancel any bitter from the espresso.

Spent sometime in Miami and the keys. Had my fair share of Cuban coffee. Not sure why people do not like espresso it’s delicately balanced. If you drink whisky, bourbon, or rum straight or with a qube of ice then espresso is up there in the same category as far as acquiring a taste.
Btw. My coffee by the time I left USA Cuba was a Colada 4-shot Cuban espresso sweetened. Now home back to black no sugar.

Espresso you get at the big American chains is burnt garbage. Go to a good cafe and ask about their smaller batch bean offerings. I’ve had espresso that was downright fruity.
