Went last night, really like the lay out and the decor. I had a great time and seemed like everyone there was as well. The only problems was the food running out and the music was a little iffy but I know they are working on it.

I have to say that I enjoyed the jazz of the early evening more than the more easy listening they switched to after dark. As for the food, that's to be expected. My alligator was excellent, if a bit over priced. My only real complaint is the lack of proper glassware, but again, that will be remedied, hopefully soon
ETA: Does anyone have the 411 on what the patio will be like, and what's the estimated date of completion?

They just need some good snifters and they'll be set.

Here's a picture of a picture that one of our FBD compadres took. It shouldn't be long... they had it "open" Saturday night just no furniture or anything.

Very nice. Yeah, it was open last night, but it was just an empty space with chain link covered in tarp. I was hoping they hadn't run into a major issue that would cause a lengthy delay.

If it's like every other project, they went over budget on the building and interior and all landscaping outside of code requirements to get the CO were put on hold.

I went Wednesday and Saturday last week and they had made progress in that amount of time even. It wasn't even open on Wednesday because they didn't have the bricks down or a fence up. So I think it just got pushed to the "not necessary to open" list.

Seems like every VE meeting involves removal of trees.

Is this place 21 & up?

What should I order here first as a an above novice beer drinker? I don't wanna be the a-hole ordering a PBR. What's good?

Went last night. Liked the layout of the place and the service. It's hard to believe that was a Macaroni Grill. We got the New Orleans shrimp as an app, it was great. Our entrees weren't that hot -- I got the beef short rib po-boy, my wife got the burger. The food prices seemed a little high-ish too $11 for a burger (no fries). They had a great beer selection, but a lot of things still hadn't come in yet.
I'm sure we will be back pretty soon and I hope they have good events. I think they're still kind of working things out. They've almost got it right out the box

not a bad place.. pretty underwhelming bourbon selection for a "whiskey bar"

gonna be there for the 4:30 game today.

My only issue was that they charged me $2 more for a drink than the price advertised. We were in a rush when leaving, and it was just $2, so I just paid it. It was maybe their third day open, so I went let it stop me from going back.
I hope they do well.

This place makes the Bulldog food look cheap. Small dishes & high prices. No thanks I'll just drink when I go there for now on.
But 95% of the time I just drink when I go to the bulldog too. It won't deter me from the place. I definitely like the setup and beer selection.

That place is huge. The beer selection is incredible. I honestly don't think they'll make it once the newness wears off, but I hope they do.
I just don't completely understand their vision.

Went there Saturday night for a couple beers. They have a good beer selection. However, i find that the Cove's tap room has "harder to find" taps. Like Brooklyn Blast and the good goose island beers like Sophie, Matilda, etc...
However, i'm sure once they are up and running well, they'll get more.
My only complaints were
1) We went there around 10. Seemed like it was overrun with just turned 21'ers. Not really what i was hoping for. But around 11:30 they cleared out and the older crowd was there.
2) The bar situation was a clusterfrick. It was about 5 deep at the bar of assholes just standing by the bar talking. I had to fight my way past the observers to actually order something. That and the bitches ordering cheap wine and douche's ordering bud light were pissing me off.
3) The bartender with the beard was very knowledgeable. I asked him about what special they had for craft beer week and he listed them, and gave me a taster of the Buffalo Trace Turbodog. Also asked me if i preferred chilled glass or unchilled.
Then, my next drink i went to some woman behind the bar. I asked if they had Goose Island Sophie, she asks, "Is that a beer?". I said yes. She looks, asks another bartender, she says no. I then ask her the same question about what specials for craft beer week. And she told me they do not have specials this week. Clearly she was a bartender in name only, used to serving out bud light limes, and chardonney. I gave up and got a juke joint IPA. It was ok. We left after that.
If they educate their less knowledgeable bartenders, do something about the crowd at the bar and get some more "rare" beers then this place will be great. If not, it will be another out of the way college bar, which i hope it does not become.
ETA: I did like the amount of seating in the place, and the tv's that retracted into the ceiling was a cool idea.

Sorry, they were hipster douche's dancing at the bar. 2 males dancing with each other. I judged them based on that, and then them ordering bud light at a craft beer bar confirmed my bias.
