I think they are the ones that put white chocolate bread pudding on the map

It is a cool place good food. My guess is landlord didn’t think Palace Cafe would actually leave. They will likely come to an agreement

Yep, they have owned a warehouse for years that had plenty of office space. Bold move, but it's definitely a big FU to the not so smart landlords. Who is going to take that space over and pay 5X the rent??

Entrees could have been better but not bad. Bananas foster and Creme Brûlée were pretty good.
this is a good take.
Went some time last March during the week for lunch after visiting the WWII museum with family out of state; everyone enjoyed it. Clientele was mostly suited/ jacket or business casual; probably lawyers or judges.

Same, but I'm not a Nola insider.
Had lunch there on a Saturday just 3 weeks ago and loved it. Live music trio played at our table. Good service. No reason a place like this should close, other than for unsavory rental terms.
Good luck to them to keep things going.

I've always enjoyed Palace Cafe, good looking interior, good location close to hotels and venues, good entrees, apps, especially desserts and easy to get reservation always.
Hopefully they get it settled.

Either that or the buildings owners may somehow find a new tenant.
Tough sledding in the quarter right now with regards to filling commercial space. They better hope a Creole Cuisine concept swoops in and fills it.

Even if they were to reopen, they would have to hire an entirely new Brennan quality staff from scratch, both cooks and waitstaff, as I'm sure everyone has moved on by now.

According to the article
If the Brennan’s actually are calling Werlein’s bluff then they’ve told these staff to sit tight. As for the other half, many corporations look for an opportunity to rid themselves of employees they wouldn’t otherwise outright fire.

From online the place seems already closed. Sit tight. As in don’t get another paycheck from somewhere else while we play chicken ?

If they take the positions offered then they’re working and getting paid. It’s a small price to pay for a retaining a ready to go standby core staff, and much easier than hiring and training a new staff if the Brennan’s prevail.
Loyalty isn’t easy to gain and it’s a good faith gesture that will pay dividends in the long run.

Love to sit by the window upstairs and people watch. Also was nice to sit by window when it was raining outside. Something very soothing about it.

but at some point Dickie Brennan & Co had all their corporate functions on the upper floors of the building too.
Dickies office is on the 3rd floor. Or was.

Motwanis. Outbid Dickie and Steve. Lease / first right terms weren’t nailed down properly in the contract.
