Why are the little wings from Hooters or pluckers smaller than the wings from Popeyes or something? And what's the drummette if it isn't a leg? Are they just little bitty baby chickens or what? I'm sure I should already know this, but I don't. Please enlighten me.

Buy an airfryer and make your own dry rub.

Better and cheaper than anything you'll ever buy from a chicken joint.

You are correct, drummettes are from chickens that were too small to qualify as a full size drum.

And what's the deal with buffalo wings? I've never seen a buffalo fly.

For real though...

Deep fry with skin on. In a sauce pan mix 1/2 butter and 1/2 Louisiana hot sauce. Bring to a simmer.

Once cooked, remove wings from oil and roll in butter hot sauce pan until covered.

Drink beer and repeat process as necessary.

Yes. Chicken's are kept penned up closely like veal calves so they can't grow or get tough. This is how the legs stay so small.

I see chicken fingers on menus too. I had no idea that chickens had fingers.

Sparky's wing sauce and a bbq vortex will turn out some fine wings.

The wings at Hooters are gigantic.

Way bigger than Popeyes or BWW

my question is, how do these places get away with selling these wing pieces as wings? Order 10 wings and you actually get 5 wings cut in half.

It's even less than that because you're not getting the wing tips.

If you ever make Buffalo wings using whole wings you'll find that it's very difficult to dip them in blue cheese dressing. It's a lot easier to dip and eat wings when they're cut up into drumettes and flappers with no tips.

Also, the meat is just a delivery vehicle for the wing sauce. If there is still unsauced meat on the bone after you've taken a bite then the wing is too big. Stay away from genetically engineered Frankenwings.

I don't go to wing places. I like whole wings, tips and all as I've said a nauseatingly number of times.

I had some wings from Copeland's that were delicious. Nice size whole wings, very seasoned though they were only fried with a blue cheese dressing. 5 to an order. Really good.

TJ Ribs has some gigantic whole Wings. i think there was 4 and it was plenty. The bar tender said they were better than their ribs so I got them. Not bad but not Great.

I grill mine after a marinade then a rub.
