It was so nasty I want even put it on the list, it was cold waaaay too much of a vinegar taste and just well nasty. I had one bite, gave it to friend he had one bite then we threw it away.

Did anybody else get a ticket or towed? I got a ticket. They had about 8 JP sheriffs on the levee writing tickets when I left. I asked him where Steven Segall was but he didnt appreciate that. Had a great time though, even with the huge crowd. I'll write a review when I get home.

We went with four people.

1. Pork Belly with Pepper Jelly from Mahoney's
2. Prime Beef Debris from Dickie Brennan's
3. Confit Pork Cheek with dirty rice aioli and coleslaw
4. Slow roasted duck poboy from Jaques-Imo's
5. BLT with Crystal Aioli

The were all very good, and that order might change if I wrote it over again.

I do think it is overcrowded though. At certain times it felt like you were in the French Quarter on Mardi Gras night. Other than that it was a really nice event and I am glad I went.

Yea they need to move this event to a more open area.

My take on the event:

Way too crowded. They need to have the event at a bigger place. Like the riverfront/downtown or somewhere similar. The only poboy I got to try was the roast beef from Parkway. Lines were ridiculous long. Guess I should have gotten there earlier. I didn't go until 3pm and it was packed. Was similar to Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras.

Parkway's roast beef was good though.

This. I got there at 12 and went all the way down tot the river stage. The crowd and lines weren't bad there at all. But when we walked back around 2 it was too congested. I left shortly after. They need a new location next year.
I got the Pascal Manale's bbq shrimp, some catering places stuffed crab poboy, and Emeril's pork cheek confit. I thought they were all very good.

They tried for a new venue for this year but the merchants on oak street got their panties in a wad and forced the festival back to Oak Street.

Shrimp Remoulade Po Boy
BBQ Shrimp Po boy
Fried Boudin

Most of my decisions were based on lines, I will say the stuff coming out of the Ninja lines looked pretty good: Soft Shell Crab among other things.

First time there, went around 4-6p.m., had a great time. Wish I could have tried the lobster from GW

f u ...me and my stroller full of kids are more deserving to go than you

....

we had a great time.... we got there right at 11 and it was a great scene......great event for all people, including families...hell there is a "kids world" event...

started off with a "godfather" poboy from vincent's .... italian sausge, meatballs, and brisket with onions....this was the best thing we ate... also had some of their famous canolis...doesn't get better than that....

then had the fried green tomato and shrimp remolade poboy... the tomates were great, good poboy...

then had crawfish bread, but it wasn't as good as at jazzfest... by that point i was stuffed...

we then DROVE to the zoo and had a great day..tried to stop back by and pick up dinner poboys ...but GW fins lobster poboy was gone and the Prime beef debris po-boy from Dickie Brennans was sold out too... by that point i was tired of the crowd so I called in a togo order for a Radiator poboy from Cooter Browns and we called it a day...great time, thx for this thread....look forward to going back next year

ETA: by the way, worth mentioning, not a lot of hockey fans there

inconsiderate

other than that, great time. Even if it was crowded. No strollers would have made it a lot easier for the crowd to keep moving.

Pork cheek from Emerils- really good, first time eating it.

Soft Shell crab from Ninjas- it was tempura battered, came with a nice spicy mayo. good as well

fried green tomatoes and shrimp remoulade from jacqueimos- you can tell it had been sitting out awhile, the sauce had soggyied it up a bit. still pretty good

alligator/crawfish cheesecake from jacques- good, but had been sitting awhile too.

strawberry/nutella crepe- solid.

fried boudin from frankie and johnies- it was frozen, all you could taste was the batter and sauce on it.

parkway roast beef- great

The lines were long, but the wait wasn't too bad usually. The strollers/dogs/babies were a pain. They would have been fine if it was held in an open area.

The bands were great

Beer was $5, but cheaper to buy from restaurants or the corner stow. Jacqueimos was making awful bloody marys.

So I'm supposed to be more considerate of you than you of me for some reason ? Am I less deserving to be there than you ?

Why don't you be considerate of me and my family and just fricking deal with what must have just been an awful ordeal you had to go through...

no you aren't less deserving to be there. I don't see the point in bringing kids out there and pulling them through a thick crowd on a narrow street. And i was raised to be considerate of others at all time. That is just the way I am I guess.

i did deal with it. I was out there for a good 5 hours today. I just hope they ban strollers next year if it is kept on Oak street. I think most people with strollers wont bring them again anyway after what i saw all day.

Evidently not. This is a residential neighborhood. Of course people are going to bring their kids.

I don't have kids but I have no problem with people bringing strollers with their kids when the event is smack dab in the middle of a residential area.

If you don't like it, then you can stay away or simply quit whining.

Even without the strollers things would have been slow and packed. The thing has simply grown too large for Oak Street.

evidently not? lol. ok. Do you know how many people with strollers i let pass by me today? How many i let into the foot traffic?? How many stroller tires rolled into the back of my leg or over my foot without me saying anything? OK dude. frick off. DId you even go? I don't think.

which is fine. Bringing babies in strollers shouldnt be allowed with the way crowd gets

For 1, its not a neighborhood wide festival. Its on 1 street. And there are no houses on Oak Street. Its not really residential. And the street is narrow as it is. On said street, there are stages. Booths. Long lines at booths. 10's of thousands of people walking in between all this on said street. Now imagine some douche pushing a stroller or wagon through that crowd.

Like I said, it was probably more of a headache for the people with strollers than it was for me. It didn't ruin my day, so stop saying i am whining or tell me to "stay away". I had an awesome time. Just voicing my displeasure for stupid parenting.
