The first Vera Cruz location was in the FQ on Decatur. That when it was at its best.

The Christian's location has been open under another name for awhile. Maybe Resurrection or something like that.

Restaurant Mandich and Uglesitch's are good calls.

Anyone remember a place on Magazine at Sophie Wright in the 90's that was open for a short period of time that served great pressed sandwiches and focaccia, as well as fresh, unusual house made fruit drinks? Might have been called Mystic or something like that.

Yep. I issued a blanket "restaurants at West End" post, and LambdaTiger said something similar.
It's a shame that area hasn't come back.

That's it. I only had those carnitas tamales and thought they were great.

ETA: I guess I made up Green Goddess closing. On my last visit I could have sworn the owner/chef said he was going to close it and open a bigger place elsewhere in the city. I guess I will swing by Exchange Alley before it gets any hotter.

My only visit to Carmine's in Metairie was during the last year or so it was open and I thought it was pretty bad.

I miss La Parvenu.

Pretty sure the weirdo who was the chef/owner of Green Goddess did leave and open a place somewhere else. I think it was in the American Can Company building. Didn't make it very long

I really miss the old Versailles on St. Charles. Gunter served some of the best food I've ever eaten. His bouillibaisse was incredible.
