I'll be in the French Quarter next week and haven't been to NOLA in about 10 years. What are some must visit restaurants that I could get reservations to on short notice?

For your trouble

This is not the OT. Take that pic to the proper board.

Much better. Thank you.

Not in the FQ, but I suggest considering Peche in the Warehouse District. You can also eat at the oyster bar if you don’t have a reservation.

You also might like GW Fins.

Italian Barrel is excellent for Italian.

Outside of that area, consider Brigtsen’s, Gabrielle, Ye Olde College Inn....

Chargrilled oysters and drinks at Drago’s. Elsewhere for the meal.

So many choices. Do you have particular foods you’re looking for?

I wouldn’t have known if you hadn’t mentioned it. I don’t look at or care about votes. Others have mentioned serial downvoting on this board. It’s worthless.

La Petite Grocery

Had a great lunch there earlier this year.

I prefer Galatoire’s to Arnaud’s, though I like both. Galatoire’s oysters rock are my favorites.

Everything Gris Gris mentioned but Ye Olde College Inn.
I would add Toups, La Petite Grocery and Couchon.

We'd like to hit a cajun/creole spot, french, Italian, maybe seafood. Lunches easy spots. Dinners - 2 casual, 1 more formal.

Really appreciate the help. Thanks!

Peche is casual and will fit for any of your meals.

Brigtsen's and Gabrielle are a mix of Cajun/Creole/New Orleans influence as both the chefs trained with Paul Prudhomme. Both are white table cloth restaurants, but coat and tie are not required.

You may want to give K-Paul's a look for more of a Cajun aspect.

If you are there on a week day or week night and would like crawfish dishes, look at Bon Ton Cafe for great crawfish bisque and etouffee. Only open on weekdays/nights. No reservations at lunch, but they take them for dinner. It's red checked tablecloth casual.

Cote Sud gets good reports as a French restaurant which also serves pizza. Cash only, so be prepared if going there.

Whatever you decide, I hope you'll report back on your experiences.

Here's an article from yesterday on Brigtsen's which may be helpful in your decision making.

Quick update -

We have dinner reservations at Brigsten's, Ye Olde College Inn and Peche. We'll try to have a lunch at La Petit Grocery.

Anything that really stands out at these places?

Get the crudo and whole fish. Both are always excellent.

Peche
I've had over 20 dishes there and I can tell you that all of them have been spot on. In fact, I can't think of any restaurant that I've visited over five times and every dish has been perfect. I would recommend staying away from the oysters, which after tax and tip can be about four bucks a bite and I think you need to get a minimum of a dozen. Not that there's anything wrong with the oysters which are quite good, it's just $24 bucks better spent on other dishes. (Make an exception if you're an oyster connoisseur and they have Island Creek oysters). They once had swordfish as the fish of the day and was reluctant to get it because I'm not a big fan of swordfish, and it turned out to be the best swordfish dish I've ever had. Chef Prewitt brings his A game every day.
