Is there another cab besides a dry one?

I recommend going to a local wine shop. A small one and tell them what you like and get recs.

Get the wine book from Wine Folly and read too.

Cabs $20-30
Dao
Justin

Any Oregon Pinot from $15-25

Branch out…
Any Rioja Tempranillo above $15 will be delicious in my experience.
Italy has some great varietals as well.
Sangiovese
Montepulciano
Barolo
Super Tuscan

Also try Shiraz from Australia.
Usually budget friendly.

And there are many wonderful California Red Blends.

Not under $30, but run about $35, I’ve never had a bad bottle of Frog’s Leap. I especially like their merlot.

B&G is one a gal bartender friend of mine turned me on to several years ago. Not sure what it costs now since I'm not a big wine drinker and my wife prefers the Black Box Chardonnay now---so we mostly only buy bottles of wine when we're going to throw a party and have several friends over.

Great wines but $30 can be a tough number to hit.

this.

I was primarily a Malbec and Cab girl until we did several wine tasting weekends there.

a lot of the wines will be in the upper price range, but you will not regret paying for the quality that you'll get.

some of my favorite vineyards from the Willamette Valley are

Archery Summit
Dominio IV
Anacréon
Domaine Serene
Coeur de Terre
Corazon Del Sol

please let us know what you end up trying and what you like!

Haven't had Greenwing or Neyers, but the other two are not particularly "dry"

From what I understand, boxed wines don’t have tannins, which is good for a lot of people.

Some wines you can find pretty easily at grocery stores

Ravage cab is around $10 and is pretty good
Las Rocas granacha
Grayson Cellars cabernet
Corvelia cabernet (Trader Joes)
Pontificus (cab, syrah, mourvedere) - TJs
Casone Sangivese (TJS)
Bogle all varieties

If they want to drink Merlot, we’re drinking Merlot.

No, if anyone orders Merlot, I’m leaving. I am NOT drinking any f***ing Merlot!

Meiomi’s Pinot Noir is pretty good and easy to find. Costco has a really good price on it.

another vote for Bonanza. Wente and Freakshow two more of my favorite in your price range.

Tannins are pulled from seeds and skins of the grapes being crushed. Being in a box shouldn't have an effect on the tannin level.
