Mason's Grill on Old Jefferson. Pretty solid roast beef with lots of gravy!

Rocco's is the winner, i feel like the bottom bread is toasted or something to hold up to the juices of the roast beef.

Rocco’s wouldn’t last a week down here serving this garbage. He only makes it because BR doesn’t know any better.

FYI, this is what deli roast beef looks like when you cook it in gravy for any length of time. He serves sliced manda roast beef with packet gravy. I’ve seen his operation.

These are Yelp pics. The one above is a recent one. The one below is from 10 years ago. He used to do it the right way then took the cheap route.

Not a fan. I had been years ago and didn't remmember liking too much, but some other posts here recently talking it up convinced me to try it again. Went about 2 months ago and cannot imagine going back. This is not a slow cooked pot roast placed in poboy bread. Tasted like sliced roast beef lunch meat and the packaged dry gravy mix rehydrated and put on top of it.

I have not tried JED's roast beef, but the other things I have gotten there (meatball and cuban) have been very good.

Rocco’s is trash now

Why is that? I know this is about the Roast beef po-boy, but I love me a Crescent City Combo from there.

That's just his opinion. Rocco's makes good poboys. They aren't as good as RnO's or Parkway (Surf and Turf is on my mind now) in New Orleans but who wants to drive an hour and a half for a poboy? Rocco's makes good poboys for BR. Jed's also makes good ones. Try the Jed's Special.

Exactly, but that's not saying much. For being 80 miles away from New Orleans they should be embarrassed about their poboy scene.

Yeah people shite on Acme but it’s quick and you can get a fine RB poboy there.

They pissed me off several years ago when their bean counters decided that they needed to maximize profit by using the fake Asian catfish.
Smooth move by a company that markets themselves as a La/Nola restaurant.

the Pastime is my favorite roast beef and yea while its true theres no gravy it does have the juices from the pot which is exactly how they do it at tujagues in new orleans.

I appreciate what you are saying, but my most recent visit (last week) involved a poboy with no pan juices or gravy of any kind. The roast beef was tasty but the overall poboy was meh.

I agree, Rocco's RB is not good. Best at the moment is Jed's. Another underrated one that is often overlooked is Capital City Crawfish.

Jesus is that real? It’s pastime for them to be put out of their misery. Who is still eating there?

Pastime is terrible, and has been for quite some time. It survives on nostalgia.
