I will be in NO briefly for work and have time for lunch. Hotel is by the superdome. Anything in that area that is a must try? I haven't been to NO in years.

Prior to Covid, i would visit Mothers and would order a Ferdi special (debris RB poboy). No clue on hours of operation and service today

Slim pickins in that area and a lot of places are closed Monday. If you can Uber, Central City BBQ is really good. Juans Flying Burrito is decent and a good walk. Willa Jean is the trendy darling of tourists but I find it just meh. It's fine. Poke Loa is good for a quick lunch.

There are also usually some decent food trucks in the area.

Permanently closed. They had the best catfish and oyster poboys and plate lunches. Sad to see them gone.

When did that happen?

I worked a block away for years, but I haven’t been down there in a few.

That sucks. They were nice guys and I loved their food.

Take a 3 minute Uber to Peche and sit at the raw bar.

I would suggest Besame but they don't open until 2 on Mondays. The usuals have already been mentioned.

Regulars in that area - Josephine Estelle, Peche, Luke. If you can slum it with us folks, I love Corporation bar for a cold beer and jambalaya. Could always walk over to Galatoire if you have a few extra.

Check the hours on any of these, do it by phone. Google maps is a bit off these days.

Peche or Cochon Butcher are great and walkable (a little under a mile).

Turkey and the Wolf is only about a 5min Uber too.

All solid lunch choices.

I say Cochon Butcher, Peche, or Meril in that area. Went to Cochon Butcher a couple of weeks ago and it was very good I got the Gambino Italian sandwich but would probably get the bacon melt next time. I've had some pasta dishes at Meril for lunch that were tasty.

Is Cochon and Cochon Butcher two different places? Do I need a reservation?

Also is anyone requiring proof of vaccination? I think some of the websites haven’t been updated in a while.

Yes. Cochon Butcher is a casual place, but very good.
Cochon might accept reservations

No vaccines required
