I'm pumped:

Dinner Friday night at Otoko. A high end omakase Japanese place in the South Congress Hotel

Lunch Saturday at LA BBQ. GOAT. Nothing else needs to be said.

Dinner Saturday night at Counter 3 Five VII. I don't know anything about it.

Let's eat............

Btw, Chef Yoshi is kick arse, a great guy. Haven't been there, but ive been to a few of his jam sessions and knew him at East Side King.

At some point you should try Kemuri Tatsu-ya.

Agreed. I haven't gone for that reason. Haha it rubs me the wrong way.

Get a Mexican Martini at Trudy's.

Drive an hour west to Johnson City and get a world famous chicken fried steak at Hill Country Cupboard. They've sold nearly 3 dozen!

Nothing says "high end Omakase Japanese" like the middle of Texas.

But really, I'm sure it's going to be good. I'm jealous.

LOL...if I was in Austin I'd have two meals at Trudy's and breakfast at Kerbey Lane.

Thanks Jack, Kemuri Tatsu-ya has been at the top of my list and I'm dying to try. I really love Kuneho. As good if not better than Uchi.

The menu for this place looks way too God damned fussy. Hey Austin, Dallas called, they want their shiny shirts and square toe shoes back.

Headed to Austin for the weekend. Any food recs? Went to Uchi, Trulucks, franklin, and Raj Mahal last time. Franklin and Uchi were our favorite, Raj Mahal smelled like cats. Masala dhaba next door was great though.

Is there anything we should do differently? We are staying at the intercontinental, so preferably in the downtown area.

ETA: looking back i like Raj Mahal, bit there was some restaurant around there that smelled like cats.

i didn't get the fuss either

I would go to Olamaie for a nice meal. Recently named best restaurant in Austin by the Statesman, and for good reason.

Thanks, i read that article earlier and just made a reservation after reading your post. Is it "stuffy" at Olamaie? One of the things i enjoy about Austin is being able to get well executed food without the stuffy atmosphere.
