As someone not from Louisiana, I'd have to agree with this.
How many and where have you eaten them in New Orleans, though? It's hard to find a decent, real poboy in Baton Rouge. Likewise, it's hard to find a good jambalaya in New Orleans.

None of it is overrated if it is cooked how YOU like it.

I've always thought jambalaya was really overrated as far as Lousiana cuisine. It's rice, meat.....I get it. But so what?
Give me crawfish etouffee, seafood gumbo, turtle soup, shrimp creole (also somewhat overrated) poboys, etc. over jambalaya anyday.

My favorite jambalayas have always been the backyard variety. Try the duck butter at Whole Foods if you can't find the Fromunda cheese

and the correct answer is raw oysters

I would say etouffee. Never been a big fan.
I hate etouffee, but I think that's just my own personal preference moreso than me finding it overrated as a whole.

I agree that King Cake is overrated. I don't think I've eaten King Cake in 30 years.
But I love all the other stuff mentioned here.

I could never eat jambalaya again and I'd be perfectly content.
Same. I don't dislike it; I just don't think it's anything special. And it kills me that everyone makes jambalaya for big events around here because it's filling and a cheapish way to feed large groups.

Yes, has to be up there too. Again, I get it but no big deal. Beignets to me are really about eating with coffee in the quarter.....it's the place. Not so much the beignet themselves.

I can get on board with this.

I can tolerate char broiled oysters...but raw?? EW, I cant do it.

Has to be the king cake. Next on the list would be jambalaya.
I agree. Especially on the Jamb. I like it and will not pass it up if offered, but I've never had one that was wicked awesome. Too damn dry.

ESPN sure thinks so. 8/10 times they show someone eating in NO it's an oyster.
