We have 15 or so people from my wife's family over every year and typically split the dishes between them. My mother-in-law always volunteers and takes mashed potatoes and it is always the most bland, plain pile of mash you can imagine. There is nothing in it other than potatoes and a drip or two of cream.

I hate it.

That's what the gravy is for.

I just don't eat anything I hate on Thanksgiving.

I hate black eyed peas so I only eat 3 on New Year's Day

I don't eat Cranberry sauce. Not gelled with indentions, not homemade. I eat lots of other things with cranberries but not sauce with turkey.

Yeah, plain mashed potatoes are pretty weak.

Another meh tradition are those store-bought plain-arse brown ‘n serve rolls

1. Green bean casserole

2. Have Seen some pretty gross concoctions that were supposed to be dressing/stuffing. In laws usually make one with ground meat, livers, and some kind of bread filler. Looks putrid.

Mashed potatoes are always in nearly every thanksgiving cooking spread I read, but strangely, my family has never done them and nobody I’ve ever visited for thanksgiving has done them.

Being lukewarm on regular mashed potatoes in general (I like rough smash with skins and lots of butter/cream/seasoning), that would be my least favorite as well.

I also find the turkey to be the weakest thing on my plate, even though I do always eat some.

It's made even worse because, generally speaking, I really like a creamy and well seasoned mashed potatoes. It's almost an insult.

Outside of these mashed potatoes she's genuinely a wonderful woman.

Good one. I’ll eat them because there’s a certain point in the meal when bread becomes my utensil/sopping tool, but packaged rolls have come such a long way. Sister Schubert’s, King’s Hawaiian, etc. They even sell decent brioche rolls at Walmart.

I went with crescent rolls this year. I think they’re great with Thanksgiving food.

Corn- whether on the cob, creamed, or buttered. Not into it.

No one particular dish for me but the entire side of my wife’s families cooking. I make a complete meal every year and eat. Then we go to to in-laws and pick. My kids asked yesterday if we are eating first before going over to the other house. Lol
