Some of y’all really need to understand the difference between sausage and hot dogs and the process of vacuum stuffing sausage. Calling it hot dogs shows your ignorance. I’ll post a thread on how to process hot dogs after the next food challenge so y’all can understand the difference.

I will say this about Manda, last I checked, it was 100% pork, no fillers, no OFFAL meat. Richards uses pork hearts and soy. Savoies uses soy. I think Manda and Verons may be the only ones without soy, but I believe Verons uses msg.

This thread makes me want Manda, lol. I’ll buy their crawfish boil sausage this week. Still my favorite. May even buy some Verons too.

Manda is popular bc it is cheap. Over priced hot dog

It’s cheap but it’s overpriced? Lmao.

Double D is a great company. But again, they use pork hearts. But it’s crazy how this board thinks that other company is cheap.

I grew up eating Manda in Jambalaya and Red Beans. It will always be my go-to. Comfort sausage for me.

What the frick is the problem with pork hearts? I get all the members of my hunting club to save the deer hearts and livers for me. Get off your high fricking horse and read some old sausage recipes. Those folks didn't waste anything.
I was taught how to make sausage from an old fella that had a cypress smoker (looked like an outhouse), had a dirt floor and nails to hold the sausage. Some of the best sausage I've ever eaten.

Pork heart is cheaper meat cut, i.e. cheap meat.

I was making the point that posters called the 100% pork sausage cheap while the other companies are using cheaper meat.

Thanks for the history lesson, though.

Went today to buy some fresh sausage for the grill. Happened to look at the boxes of sausage and yep, Manda was $9.99/box, Veron was $14/box, DD was $13. So yea, I would say it’s cheap and the reason a lot of folks use that trash. None of those are go to sausage for me. But you do you.

Manda sausage only works if you cook it in its own pot to get all the disgusting grease out of it before you use it as sausage in whatever you're cooking.
and even then it still sucks.

between the grease, and the random chunks of barely edible shite in them, it's just a terrible sausage for just about anything.

Cutrer's Meats in Kentwood has the best smoked sausage anywhere. They have a booth at the BR Farmers Market downtown every Saturday.

Not gonna lie, I do like a po boy made with Manda's hot pork sausage. Yeah, it's not really great smoked sausage, but it makes a tasty po boy.

What is the board's take on MSG? For me, I figured out that when I eat things with it, feel like crap and sometimes get a headache. I just don't buy things with it anymore.

They still sell that blue sheened sliced roast beef?

I used to work in a meat deli and was intrigued by that blue sheen. It looks like an oil slick.

Don't know about the board, but there's nothing wrong with it and most of the negative stuff is myth.
