Anyone else notice that their rope sausage is better than the link? Its supposedly the same product but the rope taste much better and has better texture imo. Not that either are particularly great, but my kids like it.

For Mass produced, lower cost Louisiana sausage, I much prefer Savoie's. When it's on sale, it's the same price or cheaper than Manda

Conecuh sausage is better than Mandas and that hurts me to say being from Baton Rouge that an Alabama sausage brand is better. Mandas has been a staple for my family for a few generations but the quality and taste is no better than hillshire farms now.
I go with Veron's, Best Stop, Richard's, or Conecuh before Manda's.

You’d be hard pressed to find a sausage at any grocery store that’s worse than Manda. Why anyone eats that is beyond comprehension to me.

i find that the one pound packs of Mandy are not great. There are 3 links that are straight and skinny. I find the larger packs, maybe 2 pound, are better. The sausage isn't skinny and it appears to have a different color. If I buy Manda's, i only buy the 2 pound packs. Someone earlier said it was rope sausage.

I’ve been going with the Chisesi Hogs for the Cause sausage for the past few years as my store bought sausage of choice.

Haven't eaten Manda's in years, unless it was snuck into a jambalaya. Never cared for it as I always found it came across as fatty/greasy when cooked.

I used to work with a guy that would SWEAR if you go in Manda's and ask for the "old style", they will give you something much better than would you would get at the store. He was Manda crazy, would eat a whole pack every day.

Agree, don’t know why anyone would eat that crap especially with all of the better options available. Rod’s is our go to for smoked sausage in a gumbo.

See, I find Conecuh has that same kinda woodsy "fake smoke" taste that Manda does, although a lot of folks here seem to like it.

Manda has never been good, but it really blows the last several years. Too much fat and too little seasoning.

I'm not a Manda fan, but I thought it was better ~30 years ago. Then the fat content shot through the roof.
