If you have to eat in Opelousas, Soileau's Dinner Club is about it.
Drive to Lafayette and skip this shitty restraunt. Steamboat in Washington if you need to go North.
The ONLY thing worth eating in Opelousas is Billy's boudin.

Palace Cafe in Opelousas. Iconic. But not eclectic, expensive or chi chi. If you want to impress your in laws go there. If you need to impress yourself go elsewhere.
Don’t do this.

Based on what has been suggested, I’d do Cafe Sydnie Mae located in Breaux Bridge. You won’t be disappointed and it has a very nice vibe. Call to see if you need reservations.

I agree with you Got Blaze. I've never been, but it seems it would be festive for a celebration. I think it's very popular so I'd make reservations. I follow them on Facebook and they seem to fill up quickly..

Well, we decided on Don's Seafood. Just ordered. Menu looks great. I'll report back after the meal.

I hope a cup of seafood gumbo was ordered!

I second that, Darla, and the crawfish bisque, all with some hushpuppies!

Don's is the most overrated restaurant in Lafayette! People truly don't go there for the food....its got to be Kevin's drinks.

Sorry, had to get on the road and forgot to get back. The food was good, not the best I've had. But the prices were fairly reasonable considering what's happened the past year or so. My biggest complaint is when restaurants offer lump crab cakes and the meat was obviously claw. But overall I would go back but will try another place if the opportunity arises.

Five downvotes for this recommendation. I’ll discount three as my regular haters (hey y’all), but five makes me wonder what y’all don’t like about Southern Social?
Here's #6 - imo, very overrated.
