Boo's is not something that I've heard of before - I'll look into it. Mac Cutting Boards is a brand that I've been following for a while now. Anybody familiar with them?

If you do any baking (like pizzas for me) consider getting a reversible dough board like this:

They're about $80 and they're huge. For me, one side is for dough and the other is for cutting.

These are not "essentials", but things I complained about not having:

1. Citrus squeezer

2. Meat mallet/tenderizer

3. Immersion Blender

4. Gravy Ladle

Le Creuset dutch oven, a nice 8” chef knife, and an end grain cutting board with plenty of real estate. These 3 get used daily, and easily have more mileage than anything else in my kitchen.

You don’t want lightweight in a Dutch oven. Go for at least the Lodge, unless you’ve got Le Creuset or Staub money. Not a fan, truly, of Staub simply bc I don’t like the black interiors. Too easy to scorch or burn something and not notice.

That is the best addition to my kitchen, along with a German chef's knife, in the past couple of years.

What brand of knife did you purchase?

Never heard of Mac, but I definitely second Boos. Best cutting boards I've ever owned by a mile.

I've narrowed it down to a cutting board, cast iron skillet, chef knife.

Chef's knife easily. #1 utilized tool in the kitchen.

Lodge would do just fine.

What would be your top 3 kitchen essentials?

Chef’s Knife (need a sharpening stone)
Carbon Steel Skillet
5 quart pot (stainless or enameled)

Plastic cutting board is fine. It’s not as nice as a good wood one, but it works and it’s cheap.

Depends on what style of cooking you do. Got to have a good knife no matter what.

Feel like I only use a few things in my kitchen out of all the stuff I have

Hey! A Wusthof 6" chef's. I had a couple of Victorinox's which are great but the balance and the heft of the knife is great. Super sharp. I don't need another 8" and just wanted something smaller and nice to have around. It's become my favorite all purpose knife.

I'm not in love with Amazon, but here it is:

Le Creuset is great, Staub is very hard to beat though, I've got a few of each.
