Me thinks you are full of shite. I know someone that used to work for Manny. Know some folks who are friendsd with Manny too.
I don't really care if you believe me. They would never keep up with demand if they tried to bake everything in that one location. Their bulk orders and internet orders ship from over there.

And even IF you might be right, it doesn't change the fact that Manny sells a shite ton more cakes that the rest of the family businesses.
That was my only reasoning for saying that this might be why he gets more attention.
I know that. I still think it's funny. He's the best business person in that entire family obviously.

They all come from the same place. Do you really think they're baking all of those king cakes in one shop in Metairie? My wife knows this family and they have a huge bake shop across the lake. Manny has one and so does Nona but they both use the same recipe. Manny puts a little more icing and uses rice-like sprinkles. Nona uses the bead sprinkles like the family has used since the beginning. The people of St. Bernard are VERY loyal to the Randazzo's
I didn't know Manny does this but the Nona's in Chalmette definitely does. They have shipments of fresh stuff come in all day long but their Chalmette location doesn't actually bake anything in house. All Manny does is King Cakes so who really knows.

Manny has people crammed into the back of his store like sardines. Most people see the lines of people and are impressed, but the real numbers is in his shipping business.

What do you think the workers do there all night?

They do taste the same though. You can tell they both use the same family recipe and both are delicious.

i used to walk into the meraux location during the height of the season and other than a path to the counter, the whole front of the place was filled with boxes.

I know we're talking about 2 different places but my mom lives in Arabi and would run down to Nona's after work and they would be sold out. The lady behind the counter said if you weren't there by 1 or 2pm you were screwed.

For those who just don't like cake, but DO like drinking. Cocktail maven Abigail Gullo has created a king cake Old Fashioned, using praline rum, cinnamon syrup, and chicory-pecan bitters. She serves it over an cube of ice in which a king cake baby is frozen.
Yes please.

My thought as well, but I want a shiny baby face up, if possible.

Picked one these up yesterday, as good as any imo. Really like that they don't have so much icing slathered all over them.

Saw on Facebook today that both Tartine and Toast (have the same owner) sell King Cakes. Are theirs good?

Had hi-do for the first time last night. It had cream cheese. That's shite was insane. The brioche was great. Those Vietnamese know what they're doing. It may have moved into my top spot.

I had one from Joe's Cafe in Marrero for the first time last night. I've never heard it talked about or anything but it was one of the best I've ever had and I grew up on Randazzo's in the Parish.

Just had for first time from Caluda's. Definitely top five material.
