Tough to find a good one in BR. My favorite I have found in BR is from Calandro's bakery.

Cajun pecan house in Cut Off is a good one. Also Weeping Willow in Thibodaux.

Living in Mississippi, my options are more limited than most of yours. Fortunately, we have a few Rouses grocery stores on the Coast, and they make a damn good king cake for a grocery store.

I've had Whole Foods before and the regular and filled ones are pretty good. Don't think I'll be trying their vegan king cake anytime soon. It always looks super dried out to me.
Peacebaker makes a good king cake though that is vegan.

Canata's in Houma. Bavarian
eta: I've tried Rouse's a few times and IMO doesn't even come close to Canata's KC. Rouse's isn't all that bad if you scrape off the 2 inches of colored sugar. If theirs is 7/10, Canata's is 15/10.

yup..
and the carnival mart over by cortana has Randazzo's king cakes. The guy makes a trip to Covington every day and brings back a truckload.
I was glad the one in da parish was open Monday. Sad they didn't have donuts though.

It's probably because he sells more cakes that the rest of the Randazzo combined(just an educated guess on my part). And he is not batshit crazy like a few of the women in the family, especially the one in da parish.

They all come from the same place. Do you really think they're baking all of those king cakes in one shop in Metairie? My wife knows this family and they have a huge bake shop across the lake. Manny has one and so does Nona but they both use the same recipe. Manny puts a little more icing and uses rice-like sprinkles. Nona uses the bead sprinkles like the family has used since the beginning. The people of St. Bernard are VERY loyal to the Randazzo's.

Me thinks you are full of shite. I know someone that used to work for Manny. Know some folks who are friendsd with Manny too.
And even IF you might be right, it doesn't change the fact that Manny sells a shite ton more cakes that the rest of the family businesses.
That was my only reasoning for saying that this might be why he gets more attention.
