(Much better than that sugary goop that Manny puts on his).
Agreed. Paid $20 dollars for a Manny Randazo yesterday and was very disappointed. WNEA.

We have one on the table in the lunch room right now and it's a goopy mess. Delicious, but still a goopy mess.

you can order the ones from Randazzo's with the granulated sugar (no icing). The best by far!!!! just had one from the one in Slidell
I may try this. Had the iced one yesterday and it could have used 1/3 the icing on it and been much better.

I don't see the point in falling for Manny's false demand that he's created....he purposefully makes way less king cakes than demanded so that people wait 2 hours in line to get a "Randazzos" product. His ex wife's king cakes taste pretty similar and you don't have to get in line at 6 am for them.
I walked into Danny and Clydes and purchased a fresh one right off the rack, no waiting. Dude from Randazzo's was there filling the rack. The only had the iced though TOO MUCH ICING!!!!!!! No filled either.

That's why I like Nona's a little better. She doesn't put as much icing.

He said it's delicious
I'm ok with that.

The problem I have with McKenzies is that it's a piece of flavorless, stale bread with sugar on top.

well they stopped making them like over a decade ago.
So i imagine they are pretty stale at this point.

My Randazzo's king cake got delivered today
Super pumped about it because any decent king cake from LA is better than the crap they make at Publix here.

Baker Maid King cakes are my new favorite. Available at PJ's, CC's, and Langenstein's. Looks like they make the official Zulu Coconut Cream filled ones. Never tried but their strawberry and cream cheese is great. It's not strawberry cream cheese, which a lot of places try to fool customers with.

LaMadeleine has a nontraditional kingcake made with phyllo dough that is fantastic. Not as sweet as most.

Hate king cakes that are too sugary/sweet...my favorite is La Boulangerie's galette des rois (French-style)
