I've seen here before people praising the Kenner joints. Unfortunately those threads get lost over time (at least the search function isn't returning many results).

What are your favorite spots in the area? We hit up La Cocinita a while back based on suggestions I read here, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We are open to any style, so really just what you think are the must tries in the area.

I am interested in Little Chinatown, but I did find one thread where someone says the owners left and opened up that dim sum place in the quarter (which we have been wanting to try for a while now).

Kenner Seafood
Gendusa's

I think it is actually in St Rose, but Truck Farm Tavern is really good.

Little China town is very good went the other night.

Your top 3 will be little China town, Kenner seafood and gendusa’s.

If you venture a little further down veterans Sandros trattoria is very good as well

shite. Guess it will be Kenner seafood. That’s some high praise.

Feel free to keep this thread going with other recommendations. We want to try and hit them all up over time.

Latin I would recommend

Pollos a la Brasa Fiesta - south American spit fired ribs and chicken and sausage ,, very good.

Their sister restaurant on Airline a block off of Williams is good too. Guatamalean/Honduran. It's called Fiesta Cocina.

For Honduran style Baledas go to Mi Pueblito, which is on Florida a block off of Williams, three north of west esplanade. $5 and filling.

For Pupusas go to Pupseria Lillys pretty much in home depot parking lot.

For Mexico City (DF) style fans, kenner has four Mexico city style places.
La Chilangas (leans more Tex Mex)
Taquiera DF (on vets cheap tacos)
El Chilangos (not related. A chilango is someone from Mexico city)
Chilangos Seafood

For straight Tex Mex we have Don Jose and Taco Tico.

I prefer Harbor Seafood to Kenner. Better menu, more fish options.

Norma’s Sweets is a Cuban bakery w a small sandwich, meat pie, and tamale menu. Only a couple of small tables inside, most of the business is carryout. Tasty Cuban sandwich.

If your looking for a quick poboy, I’d try check in-check out. No stretch by any means is this a classy establishment, but get of at Loyola before crossing Pontchartrain for a pretty damn good poboy. Make a very full shrimp and a pretty perfect oyster. Seen other stuff come out of there that looks good, but always get either of those two.

Little Chinatown is still good but not as good as when the original owner/chef was there. He sold the restaurant with the recipes and now owns Dian Xin in the Quarter.
Still one of the best restaurants in Kenner

Truck Farm Tavern right down River Road in St. Rose is superb. It can be a little pricey if you order steaks but they are top notch. The BBQ mac and cheese is divine and the oyster toast is a favorite of mine. They have a decent tap selection and a good small wine list. It’s about 5 mins from the airport so good for a quick bite if traveling. They are closed on Monday and Sunday.
