I guess I should check out Swagat. Curry & Kabob is one of my favorite restaurants on earth. So good.

Rent. The answer is almost always the exorbitant cost of rent.

Used to be our go-to and then had one meal that was so subpar the food was almost inedible. Don't understand what happened but it turned us off for good. Found Swagat by pure luck and never looked back.

India's has new management and a new chef they have improved the food quality.

I’ll have to give them a shot, then. I went once about 5 years ago and it was so bad, it made me think all Indian food must be like that, so it made me avoid that whole style of cuisine.

I assume they’re not doing buffet right now, are they?

Every time I am in the area I try and stop by and they are always closed (between shifts or Corona). But I just heard they are opening a restaurant in MEtairie!

Never heard of or tried Swaggat. Is that new?

As an Indian, I can recommend Swagat.

I just had a spicy mutton biryani from Swagat. Swagat is the closest to Indian food right now in BR

Bay Leaf on Sherwood is my favorite. Great food and wonderful service.

I was in Curry N' Kabob a few months ago and the owner said he was going to close and move to the Gov't St. area. I have not noticed lately whether they are open or not. I sure loved their naan and butter chicken.

Swagat is close by, I always enjoy what ever I get there, I usually go with a friend who lived in India, I let him pick out what we eat. I see a lot of Indian families eating there, a good sign. Because of LSU and the petro industry, he have many Indian families in BR, great neighbors and smart, friendly people. At least that is my racist view.

For people who like spicy Cajun food, Indian is a good fit, lots of rice and gravy. Lots of vegan choices too. Of course there is a segment of people who won't eat things as foreign tasting as curry.

Have any of these Indian restaurants reopened their buffets? I love Bay Leaf and Swagat but prefer the variety of their lunch buffets.

I have never had a bad dish from bay leaf. I got addicted to India's in the 90's and was a regular since then. The last few times were meh. It's been a few years, so if they have do indeed have a new chef, might give them another chance.
