If I drive up to Baton Rouge can I go there and eat ? I like tacos so I see their pics on the nets. Seems like some type of corporate pop up but the food looks killer.

Is it open? I feel we've been hearing about it for over a year now.

No.

Their brick and mortar location will be in the White Star Market on Government Street, and it is under construction.

Not sure when it's supposed to be ready, but it doesn't look like soon based on driving by the construction a few weeks ago.

I live by there. It might be ready for fall, if you define fall as ending the day before winter starts. They're still putting up wood. I think it's a lot safer to say early 2018.

The food better live up to the internet hype that Jay D creates. Dude's been doing taco research for two years.

Yea there is no way that place will be ready in the fall. Seems like they havent made any progress on it in a month.

I went to one he did next to Giraphic Prints for Hot Art Cool Nights. The food was excellent. He had a line 30 deep but it actually moved pretty quickly.

I could see the White Star Market being open by late fall perhaps. Definitely will be open before the beer garden down the street which is still an overgrown lot.

What happened to the Government street diet? The realignment?

Also no work on the old Gouter building which is supposed to be a pizza joint but what is going into the building next door they are renovating?

And what about Twine? Anyone been there?

And again farther down Govt the seafood place around 22nd street. What's the deal there.

Simple Joe's blows.

My Government street questions. Ready for a Pawl Allen downvote.

It will be a real place once White Star Market opens... eventually... maybe. Until then it's just a pop-up concept.

Had some of their tacos at the Nottoway beer fest yesterday. Way overpriced but they were pretty good. Had the chicken pimento mac n cheese and the uncle swine which was a cherry braised pork w/jicama Taco.

Meh.

I'm a fan of just some regular old tacos.

No clue, hopefully something starts going on that sooner rather than later. Even if they take a road off the street, it might help traffic. Not having a turning lane right now sucks.

Simple Joe's is awesome. They have started the renovations on the coffee shop across the street, French Truck Coffee.
