Am I a heathen, or are there others out there just like me?

Unless I'm cooking a dish that calls for short grain sushi rice, Jasmine is my go to.

I love the way it smells, but it usually doesn't come out as soft and fluffy as I like my rice. I do it in the rice cooker, so I'm not sure the issue. I assume user error.

Then don't eat it. Was that worth a thread?

Jasmine rice is my rice of choice 98% of the time. A lot of time, it's the about dishes that complements it.

I don't think the rice cares for you to much either.

I don’t rinse jasmine. Jasmine rice requires about 1 3/4 cup water to 1 cup of rice.

Don’t you add butter??
My ratio is 1.5:1 and I don’t rinse the rice.

There is a Louisiana grown version of this available called. "Jazzmen."

Well this could explain my issue then. I'll have to try that. Its always too crunchy for me when I make it 1:1.

Boil it like pasta instead of the typical simmer method. Helped me get my jasmine and basmiti to a loose and fluffy texture like you get at Thai and Indian restaurants.

This is my new and improved method. I quit using the simmer x 20 min with lid on method as I would end up with sticky mush. I sometimes use a rice cooker for ease (after washing rice till clear). After I got some high end Basmatti rice from the AZ store, I started using your method and it comes out just like Swaggat.
Also it only takes about 6-8 min
