The farm to table thing is mostly a myth - most cooks are not a farm picking up things to use - especially food trucks. There are some places that order special ingredients from farms, but the rest of the stuff is Sysco/Ben E Keith or whoever

the old lady is in the high end wine bidness, there is definitely a lot of “the emporer’s new clothes” syndrome from a lot of people that want to appear sophisticated but I’ve seen truly knowledgeable people in tastings show the ability to have keen sense of taste to recognize exactly what they’re tasting, but what’s that worth to the majority of us schmucks drinking run of the mill table wines everyday?

Saw something similar with food service grade stuff and "farm to table" organic which ended up roughly the same.
The power of suggestion is the largest part of snobbery.

The Dunning-Kruger effect is real and not limited to neophyte “foodies”.
Also, TIL that there are people who are snobby about Texas hill country wines instead of thinking they are interesting wines that are usually a decent value

Agreed. I tried nearly every store bought, big-name beer under the sun, while I was active in the USMC. I honestly hated beer until I was 35. I thought beer was disgusting...because I was only drinking light ales, light lagers, and other similar styles. IPA's? Garbage! At 35 I had my first Guiness. The roasty aroma reminded me of coffee. Notes of chocolate and caramel? Blew my mind. Afterwards I visited my first brewery (Pensacola Bay) and had a coffee stout and a porter. I was hooked. I've hit 109 breweries across the country (I keep a list), and I've dived into the stout/porter/dark lager community of the bigger companies. I found my lane, but small breweries and national brands are both welcome.

I'm a Popeyes guy but I'll drink some High Lifes or a craft beer. I'm pretty much the same with food. I'll go to the farm to table place but I'll also eat gas station nachos

Yep. Some of the best stuff I've had were from old country stores or food trucks.
I don't mind higher end places, but its far from a requirement. I'd usually choose a food truck burger myself.

Once you get past a certain point there are diminishing returns or flat out scams that you're paying for. Whether it's beer, whiskey, wine, food, you name it.

Some of the best asada tacos I've had in recent memory were from a food truck near my house a couple of years ago. The ladies didn't speak English and only took cash but it was like $7 for a big plate of food. Sadly they moved somewhere else or don't do it anymore

If you conducted a blind taste test with Coors/Coors Light/Bud/Bud Light/Miller/Lite, likely most folks who consider themselves serious beer drinkers would struggle to get half right.
