What kind of permit did they get to open and serve food & 6 packs to-go?

Are they permitted as a restaurant instead of a bar?

No way, right?

60% of sales have to be food to be a restaurant

Were the previously selling food? Bars can serve food and to go drinks at this time.
I know several that tried it, but they have closed up to wait this out. Wasn't enough money in it for them.

Yes I believe so.

We were under the impression that all bars are closed & you needed a different type of license to open and sell food & drinks to go.

My bar sells food but we have a bar license.

Hasn't Ivar's always been a "restaurant"? I seem to remember that they were open on Sundays before bars could open on Sundays and you had to go out front or on the back patio to smoke.

It's also possible that I may just be misremembering that because of all the booze.

Again, lots of bars that had served food have been given a conditional permit to operate as a restaurant. To go food and to go drinks in some form or fashion
The to go drink standards seem to be all over the place

Thanks for that info.

Like he said, really seems to be all over the place. Bars in New Orleans were getting in trouble for being open and trying to sell food/drink, but it hasn’t seemed to be a problem (as far as getting shut down) for those in BR that are doing it.

Olive or Twist has been open. Ivars has been open. Mid City Beer Garden has been opening spontaneously for taco night or crawfish or something. They’re all serving alcohol when they’re open.

I guess the question is whether it is worth bothering. Not many people can justify the food or drink enough for a place like Bulldog to justify it IMO. (Not a knock on Bulldog. I just can get anything they sell beer wise for half the price at a grocery store, and their food is pretty expensive bar food)

EDIT - The places killing it with takeout drinks right now from what I've seen are those who have a following for a certain drink. Curbside selling frose. Merchant selling Merchant Mules. Superior selling margaritas.
I can't imagine your regular types of bars with call drinks and domestic beer have alcohol flying off the shelves.

Our bars/restaurants (mostly bars that happen to sell food) are serving everything here to-go in FL. They can pour you a wine/beer/liquor drink, you just can't drink it there. Which means open alcohol laws in places have gone away The bartender told us, "There are benches in the park outside, while you wait for your food." Wait, what? I can't sit in your empty bar, but I can drink in a park? Bottoms up!
