Homemade sandwiches - toasted or not toasted bread?

I like most of my sandwiches with fresh bread, not toasted.

The only sandwiches I like toasted are a breakfast sandwich or a club.

MrsAT toasts every sandwich she eats. I don’t get it. I like the fresh, soft bread feel. I like my crunch to come from the lettuce, bacon, or some other ingredient.

If the bread is not fresh (starting to stale), I will toast it.

Depends on the sandwich and style of bread for me but I'm kinda weird I guess. Only sandwich I like on toast is PB&J. I love the inside of a hamburger bun toasted...and a roast beef poboy. But I don't like the bread toasted on a hot ham & cheese (sandwich or poboy).

Told you I was weird.

eta: I'm fine with a club on toast too

I’m not talking burgers or poboys, I just mean plain old slice bread sandwiches.

Hot ham and cheese will be grilled in my house, neither fresh or toasted.

IMO a very light toast is ideal for most sandwiches at home. Warms the bread, gives a slight crunch, but leaves the inside of the slice soft & chewy

By light toast I mean a 1.5 or so in the pic below

Low carb bread tastes better toasted, so I do, but with regular bread, it varies by the sandwich and sometimes the bread. Toasted seeded rye might be my fave.

Ahh ok. Doesn't change my answer any. Just shortens it.

Kind of depends on the sandwich and the bread. A PB&J I’ll do untoasted but a hot dog I like it toasted.

Breakfast sandwiches and BLTs, I like toasted. Otherwise not toasted. For some reason, fresh untoasted bread & deli meat sandwiches on the beach hit different.

I mostly eat whole wheat bread and it turns bitter and nasty when toasted. White bread is better toasted.

I'm weird. I don't like how toast hits the gums and palette, but I like the crunch. So I toast one side of the bread (broil) and make a sandwich with the toasted side on the inside.

I like my bread toasted and the meat warmed in the microwave. Cheese, Mayo, brown mustard, pickles, cracked pepper. Perfect sandwich

Turkey and cheese - toasted
Roast beef - not
PB&J - not
Spiral honey ham- pan fry the ham, but don’t toast the bread

That’s about all the sandwich eating I do.

Depends on the bread for me. If it's fresh, no toasting. If it's a little old, toasted. Doesn't matter if it's wheat, white, rye, whatevs.
