Hats or caps in restaurants Really guys? Seriously, I think it's rude and classless.

've always thought people who feel like they need to defy "silly conventions" just for the sake of defying silly conventions, are usually lamer than most of the silly conventions they feel compelled to defy. But, that's just me, I guess.
I'm not trying to defy anything. Just don't see the big deal. My friends wear hats to my house all of the time and I wear mine to theirs. We don't see it as disrespectful.

Do you really believe wearing a hat causes you to go bald?

Wearing a hat indoors is considered disrespectful because hats were worn outdoors to protect one's head when working from dust and soot and it was seen as a sign that you thought your hosts' house was dirty. It was also seen as a sign that you were in a hurry to leave so you wouldn't even remove your hat.
When? In 1955? Wearing a hat is not strictly synonymous with fieldwork or the perception of cleanliness any longer. I think soot went extinct in 1964. Get with the times, pappy.

It's just the origin of the tradition and I found it interesting, sonny boy.

Exactly. Hats are fashionable, I like to match the color of my flatbill with the same color pair of Crocs.

Stayed at The Lodge at Sea Island one time, husband could not walk in the lobby with a hat on, if you did they would call you by name and ask you to remove your hat.

If you're in my house with a hat on I'll ask you to take it off.
That pisses me off more than hats. I could not care less if they wear a hat in my home. It has no meaning to me and won't mess up my home. Wearing shoes? No way.
