Really guys? Seriously, I think it's rude and classless.

Opinions (ducks for cover)

In fine dining settings I'm against it. And by fine dining I mean any place where there aren't tvs anywhere but the bar, or waitresses with their tits hanging out.

Even Waffle House gives you silverware. I think hats aren't frowned upon there...

I heartily agree. It seems like class and civilized behavior are frowned upon in today's pop culture.

Mind your own business if not in your dinner party

Anything above your standard outback/chillis chain is unacceptable for dinner, IMO.

Lunch at sports bars, meh. No biggie.

If I know I'm going to a restaurant, any restaurant, I make sure I'm not wearing a hat to begin with.

Don't wear a hat much anyway because I want to keep my hair.

A man should never wear a cap inside.

If it isn't a nicer dinner, what's so offensive?

For those familiar with Baton Rourge...hat - acceptable or not?

Louie's
Roul's
Chimes
Chelsea's
Bulldog
Past Time
George's
Superior
Acme

That's how I was raised. I just don't do it. Even in my own house. Don't care if it's chili or grilled cheese sammies. I don't do it.

My way, my opinion. If you're in my house with a hat on I'll ask you to take it off.

I (and the Pope) disagree with the extremists that say "Never inside". Casual sports bar type setting - who gives a shite. Upscale casual to fine dining it is tacky.

I'm almost always wearing a hat. I sit at my desk in my office with my hat on a lot of the times.

If I'm sitting at a bar, I'll live it on.

If I'm going to a casual restaurant, I'll put the hat on my knee.

If I'm going to a more formal place, I'm not going to be wearing a hat.

I don't think it is rude though. It doesn't offend me if I see someone wearing a hat while eating at a nice restaurant.

I am military and we are ingrained to not wear covers (hats) indoors unless under arms. I instinctively take my hat off as I cross the threshold when in uniform. When off duty I tailor it to the situation. Biking on the trace and stopping for a sandwich and pint - leave my hat on. Waffle House - leave my hat on. Dinner out - no hat. You sound like a nut job about hats. Do you really confront your company before grilled cheese time? Lame.
